Summer - Prologue. A personal note...

The idea for this story began taking shape in my mind in January 2014. When a series of events left me in a deep depression in the middle of the year, writing gave me a reason to keep on living.

My wish was to create a world in which gay men could be themselves without regard to what others thought. This world does not represent the totality of the gay community―just a small slice with a higher than average testosterone level.

I also wanted a chance to spotlight some people I admire and to do what many people will consider preaching. Homophobia, political narrow-mindedness, religious intolerance, and bullying are behaviors I abhor with a passion and the story will, at times, reflect my feelings.

Along the way a few individuals read portions of the story while in process; their encouragement and support kept me writing and brought me to this point. My thanks to Pete, Dave in New Zealand, Ari in Los Angeles, Marc and Max in Australia, Rex, Gary, JoAnn, Scotty, Kitt and Dimwit. And my eternal gratitude to Mann Ramblings who helped me shape a bunch of words into a somewhat coherent tale. Do not blame him for faults you find in the manuscript; he’s only human after all.

I hope you come to love CJ and the gang as much as I have.

Can't wait to begin this next part of the story. I trust you now find yourself in better headspace as you continue to entertain me, with your work. Please be well. I wish you all the best. Sincerely LWJ

Thank you. I am.

But writing continues to serve as therapy just like my first motorcycle did years ago. CJ and his friends have helped me through hard times more than once, including both my parents dying in the past couple of years.

It's easy to escape into this world when the real one gets overwhelming. LOL

Right now, you're doing what I do so often. A binge reader leaves a comment, and I get lost reading these older chapters again. I'm just as surprised at how long I've kept this going!

I've been reading since that first chapter of Summer posted but didn't make my first comment until the ninth chapter. That was a surprise until I remembered that it took some encouragement from others to accept I might have a worthwhile comment to offer even if it was only to say I liked what I'd read. I wonder how many others like I was are out there quietly reading and enjoying but to shy to say so.

I'm enjoying the reread, remembering where and how it all started. It's remarkable.

Just amongst those readers who are members, there's probably a few. CDMX chapters consistently get over 75 reactions but only about a third of that number comment. The comment count's higher because some people engage in conversation and post more than one comment, and I respond to all of them.

Then we have to account for the extra 25 since the story has 100 followers. I won't even try to estimate the number of non-members reading!
