The surprise with Souris is that it is a before and after story. A tale of despair and hope.

We follow young Souris through his coming of age experience in a reality we would normally rather not think about.

Be prepared for an emotional journey reading this wonderfully written narrative. But, don’t miss reading it.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the review, @Paladin!  One of the universal things about coming of age is trying to understand and interpret the painful and confusing things that happen which a child has no context to understand.  I am glad the story is resonating.

This is a truly emotional story that will tug at your heart.

The life and times of Souris told over 11 years, realistic, gritty, with a hint of redemption.

Keep tissues handy, but give it a read.

Comsie would have loved this.

Response from the author:

The feedback and praise is appreciated!  I’m not a GA or Chicago native, but both seem to missing someone as I’ve gotten to know them both.  RIP @Comicality  -  You are missed.

A truly emotional story, with realistic and relatable characters that will tug at your heart as you read it.  This is an engaging short story that will elicit a wide range of feelings, but will leave you feeling good when you reach the end.

Response from the author:

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review @Bill W!  I’m glad Souris’ story struck the intended chords!

Is there a better way to pay tribute to the @Comicality, author who gave such a huge contribution to GA, than write a story about a boy who is struggling with the destruction of his family, sexuality and society rejection.

@empath brings a new character (Souris) to the fantastic Land of Lincoln gallery. We see again some old friends, meet some new - cry and laugh with them and enjoy in another @empath masterpiece!

Response from the author:

Thanks @Cane23.  I never got a chance to interact with Comicality outside his stories, but he still managed to encourage me at a time in my life that I was feeling very confused and alone.  ❤️

An excellent tribute full of sorrow and heart. But, it is quite definitely a coming of age tale that pays homage to @Comicality. It shines a light on the struggles of youth as well as its resilience. Well, well done.

Response from the author:

Thanks for dropping a review @BendtedWreath!  I am glad you appreciated the story and found it fitting!

A uniquely formatted story. We see annual snapshots of Souris' life. He had it difficult, but only seeing what happens or is told on each of his birthdays between the day a part of him died, through his journey, hoping for his life to finally turn around. Does it? Not saying. Read it for yourself.

Response from the author:

Thank you @Lee Wilson!  Telling the story with less than a 1000 words per year was a fun challenge.  Crafting a deeply emotional coming of age tale, which is always a culmination of moments over time, in one chapter was really inspiring to me.  That it was written in tribute to @Comicality and published on his birthday, led me to focus on that single day throughout Souris’ life.  I am glad you found it both unique and recommendation worthy!  ❤️
