Memories of past loves can be bitter, angry or sometimes sweet  keepsakes of a different time.  They can also be a bit bittersweet.  Gary has written a one chapter gem that evokes a slightly bittersweet walk down memory lane and he does it masterfully.  "Our Bar" is the place where once upon a time, they relaxed and were among friends.  It was their home away from home.  Chapter one is entitled "Fly Me to the Moon"  and part of the lyrics are quoted in the story.

For younger readers, the song may not ring a bell, but for anyone who loves Frank Sinatra, it was one of his classic songs.  Here is a link to Sinatra performing it in 1965 here in St. Louis.  Listen to it, remember your parents or grandparents would have known it by heart....and then read the story.

Response from the author:

Thank you so much for this, Dave. I'm pleased you think well of this little story, and yes, anyone who doesn't know the song should listen to this. Each word speaks of love and lovers.

Our Bar is a place filled with loving memories. It is a very short vignette that reminisces of a time past where two lovers met.  The memories are loving and warm.  The words flow like a poem.  You'll appreciate the few minutes you take to read this piece as you remember your own memories of love.

PS Take a moment to listen to Sinatra sing in the video provided by @Daddydavek.  It will set the mood before you begin the story.

Response from the author:

Getting a second review for this offering makes me very happy. It's nice that something so short has had an impact on you. It really was written for me, but I believe it is something many readers could connect to, if they gave it a read. I hope some will heed this recommendation, and I sincerely thank you for it. Cheers!

I don't know how @headstall does it, but he did it again. He drew me into the story and made me feel the emotions of the narrator as he thought back to happy times and a relationship that was full of love. If you haven't experienced the pull of Headstall's stories you are missing out. There is a lot packed into this short so be prepared, read and learn about love and grief, no regrets, there is no room for regrets in this story, it is beautiful.

Response from the author:

This third review of "Our Bar" is just wonderful. I sincerely hope new readers will listen to your kind words. Yes, this is a short, but there is a lot of love in this man's remembering. Thank you!
