Finding A Voice - 8. Chapter 8

Please enjoy the following poems; 'Ode to Mother Earth', 'Stated', and 'Time Recycles'.

Ode to Mother Earth

Golden rays melting vibrant colors to darkness

Cotton clouds become blackened wool

Giant buildings slowly transform to dwarves

Dancing diamonds tango with a changing pearl

Trees, flowers, grass uprooting and reclaiming

Concrete, cement, pavement kingdoms overthrown

Air grows sweeter with every moment

Ivies, vines, creepers begin their intricate weaving

Over bridges, light poles, stores, restaurants

Cars become homes for bugs, birds, bonnets

All that was in the kingdom of oppression

Now is in the hands of the Mother again

Weather becoming calm, more collected

Scars upon the Earth are mending

Plants, animals, landscapes thought to be extinct

Return due to the last days of us, the weakest link.

Stated

Heart tainted

soul poisoned

hands stained

mind annulled

left here bleeding

empty...cycle ending

strange beginning

shattered thinking

cornered; tag team

slient screams

endless schemes

broken dreams

rage entangles me

alone, adrift at sea

crying, eyes on knee

Peace? Am I free?

embraced wrong

breaking dawn

pain rinsed...gone

waves crashing, yawn.

Time Recycles

Arctic gale sends chilling frost to bone

White fresh powder blankets unsuspecting world

Unpredictable North Wind from whisper to moan

Warm South Wind unable to come for spring to unfurl

Sea smelling of sweet salt

Hands slowing, tocks and ticks

Fields of wild grasses, a mare, a colt

Caribbean breeze dancing across the tropics

Lazy days of summer mold into autumn

Vibrant life will now go numb

Chameleon leaves crackle like hot embers

Much needed days of eternal slumbers

Desert sunsets; painted explosion

Sizzle, wheeze of a copper fire

Immense solitude, unruly peace, sheer fascination

From distance or fingertips touch; awe and admire

Evergreen forests of frosted humidity

Mountains like unconquerable castles

Everglades and Tahoe; delicate vitality, fierce frailty

Mountains like education rewarded with tassels

I have a new appreciation of Time Recycles. Returning to Colorado, I am beginning anew, typing this poem history does repeat itself and I am recycling myself into a new, better version. Comments and questions are always welcomed.
