I reiterate what my fellow readers have stated in their beautifully written reviews, @Mancunian, has created a heart-warming and at times devastatingly sad tale of two brothers whose lives are at an all-time low due to being homeless. What happens after they meet a kindly builder, Max, and his extended family and friends, is a joy for the reader to witness.

This story is populated by characters from all walks of life and of all ages. What particularly impressed and delighted this reader was the exploration of the burgeoning relationship between the brothers and their “Gramps”, and the appearance of a most beautiful and intelligent non-human character, Missy. She is an integral part of the story and @Mancunian is to be congratulated for her inclusion in the story and for his respectful, sensitive and joyous portrayal of such an important family member.

An entertaining, enriching and occasionally enraging read from start to finish. Special mention should also be made of @raven1, who from accounts provided by @Mancunian, proved to be an invaluable editor and support during the writing of this tale. Well done men.

My first review, so I hope that counts for something. It's hard to say anything new after all the wonderful reviews already posted, but my thoughts anyway:

While the story is heartbreaking at times, more often than not, you will walk away from reading a chapter or two feeling good. You'll love the characters, well, except for the ones you're supposed to hate. You'll figure that out easily. I sincerely wish this was a true story. If there were more people like Max and Stacy in this world, it would be a much better place. We could all use a dose of their love, kindness, and most importantly, tolerance.

Response from the author:

Thank you for the wonderful review, it means more than you can imagine.

I am honoured to be the recipient of your first review.

The Baxter boys are homeless, cold, sick and running out of hope as they walk to Manchester, hoping to find shelter from the upcoming winter. What will they find there?  You’ll love this beautiful and loving story as it unfolds to reveal what they find. Mancunian has written a wonderful story full of love, hope, and happiness. It has my highest recommendation, and I know you will be delighted that you have read this well-written tale.

Response from the author:

Thank you for the great review. I have enjoyed writing this story, it's been an emotional story to write. This story may be over but The Baxter Boys story isn't finished yet. We may visit them again at some point.

Writing this wonderful holiday story, @Mancunian used the best elements of Charles Dickens's tradition putting social elements, family values, spirit of receiving and spreading good, humanity, acceptance and love. Without supernatural elements, you can feel the true Christmas spirit present in every written sentence.

Charlie and Michael are orphans, wandering alone at the streets of Manchester. But it is the beginning of story because they are saved by good Samaritans and accepted in new surroundings. Why are they chosen one to be saved...because of their good soul, because of their will to spread humanity and love they received. So, when they receive golden chains from their new grandfather, it is not just the bond of new family, it is the bond of goodness. It amazingly symbolizes the chains of good, chains that bond people and the world in love. Everyone is touched by this magic - boys find the family, Harry finds grandsons, lost are found and those who love are loved back; success finds the best among people...the dog finds the puppies...the guitar finds the musician's fingers of gold.

This is not pretentious story aiming to give us moral lectures, it is its heartwarming and deeply human message that make us think how to be better persons. This story should be read as beautiful sermon, the way we read 'Christmas Carol' by Dickens.

Response from the author:

Thank you @Cane23 for this wonderfully humbling review. For you to compare my story to one written by such a renowned author is very touching and means the world to me.

A truly wonderful addition to the Boot Series.

We meet Michael and Charlie who are homeless, ill and living in the City of Manchester.

We follow the boys in this heartwarming story, which features moments of sadness, that will bring you to tears and moments of happiness.

As with other entries in the Boot Series, we meet some familiar faces.

This comes highly recommended.

Response from the author:

Thank you @chris191070 for the wonderful review of this story, and thank you for your support of all the stories in The Boot World.
