The Prisoner of Carronne

Welcome to a world where everything is not quite as it seems; a world of myth and mystery, of knights and castles and dragons, and where love knows no boundaries. The knights of the Order of the Dragon have been defeated, with the usurper - the Dark Lord, Septimus - assuming control of the Five Lands of Candor, while he seeks the Golden Throne of Jeebath. This is the story of those who stand in his way.

Medieval Fantasy, not a genre in which I have any interest, I only considered reading this story because it is written by one of my favourite GA authors, @Mark Ponyboy Peters.

The Prologue piqued my interest, so I thought I would give the story a chance, and I am very glad I did. There is certainly an element of medieval fantasy, supernatural elements and the mention of a dragon, but for the most part it is a story with universal themes, one which at times has remarkable similarities to the political climate of many nations of the world today and their despotic and unhinged leaders.

A large cast of characters in comparison to many of Mark's other stories, but each had an important part to play. Of course, the characters are well drawn as is Mark's usual standard, with excellent editing by @MJC again making the story flow well and easy to read.

Read it and enjoy as did I.

A genre that is not always easy to write in, but @Mark Ponyboy Peters has more than admirable succeeded.  The writing was truly first rate and the flow to the story was excellent.

The characters draw you in, but it is the story and the sense that something is being uncovered and learned that keeps you reading.

An adventure that while we have the answers to the first part of the story, only opens up the realization that so much more is to come.

Definitely worthy of your time.
