This is a fully worthy member of the Thompson River Tales stories. It’s quite short and in terms of “events” it is low-key but it certainly has an impact. The story reflects powerfully on meeting, speaking honestly, listening attentively, learning and so achieving mutual understanding. The outcome is positive but there is remembered sorrow on the way. Well worth reading.
