"Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!" Scottish author and poet Sir Walter Scott. 

This is not an unusual situation and has been experienced by many in the past, including many gay men.  This story is intense, sometimes painfully so, and it points out that all sides in the deception will come away hurt, bruised, and possibly permanently scarred.  It ends, however, on a semi-positive note, leading us to feel that maybe these characters will be able to rebuild their lives.
