Impressions and Reflections - 16. Poem 16: Taken Away

A poem about innocence lost at the hands of a predator

Taken away

You stole my very innocence in a moment of greed
I suffered through every moment and felt so very weak
Nothing could prepare me for the damage you had done
No longer a child I was from that moment in time

You took for me what was most precious at the time
I suffered through years of confusion with inability to cope
Nothing could prepare me for the price of your lies and deceit
No longer unscathed was I when you took it away

You made me a prisoner to your lust and ignored my cry
I suffered the humiliation of being forced into compliance
Nothing could be worse than hurting me in such an evil way
No longer able to manage was I years there after

You gave to me distrust for humankind just to pacify yourself
I suffered so that you could use something for your selfish urge
Nothing could be worse than being forcefully taken at such an age
No longer could I be innocent because of you
