Impressions and Reflections - 5. Poem 5: Summer Life

Summer Life

The summer is a time when the world is most alive
The busy streets steam in the blazing and unforgiving sun
People wipe sweat from their brows as vigorously they work
Time is money as travelers spend and spend without a care
Summer fun can be just a click away in an age of information

The summer will always be a time when I feel truly alive
The busy schedule a welcome escape for the prosaicness of life
People enjoy the signs of life and wildflowers in fields and prairies
Time to relax with a glass of lemonade a pleasure in the midst of heat
Summer fun can be as simple as a breath of the warm evening air

The summer sun makes the world’s water a welcome escape
The busy children play until the summer days’ grand finale
People seek weekend getaways until the cool autumn breeze
Time is rarely an ally as summer’s conclusion arrives briskly
Summer fun will return when the cycle of life beckons the arrival
