Sonata in Sex Op. 69

Sonata in Sex Op. 69

We have all been told that love making is an art. This form of art is usually accompanied by romantic candles, romantic pulled curtains, romantic champagne, and let us not forget, lots and lots of lube. However, throughout the ages, the intertwining of the sex with sexy music has long been a tradition for us smooth and stylish types. Nothing gets him/her more into it than popping David Gray's This Year's Love into the CD player. But why limit ourselves to pop culture from the past fifty years? Sure, some grooving jazz may get you ticking, but dive into the world of neoclassical music and you will discover the hidden talents of big superstars like Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Prokofiev.

Do not roll your eyes at "classical music". The said composers were well established in the scene circa 20th Century, notorious for their intensely dissonant and virtuosic works. There's heavy chromaticism, loud piano banging, and pieces with titles like 'The Firebird'. What more sex appeal can you ask for? There are some very attractive dead pianists . Glenn Gould, for instance, never fails to get me to excited when he hums like a weird bird during his solo recordings. (Type in 'Glenn Gould elephants' on youtube, and you can see Gould singing to elephants! Who isn't turned on by a man who can sing?) Classical music is an untapped resource for heavy sex music. But it is not limited to just piano works. Lutoslawski's Cello Concerto depicts battles between the soloist and orchestra. A nice way to set a scene for struggles and power play, if you're into that sort of kink.

So, the next time you are shuffling your partner into your dim, candle lit and almost blindly dark bedroom, chuck out David Gray and instead put in Prokofiev's Toccata in D minor Op. 11, and get ready for a wild ride.

Phew, that was one driving, stabby, rhythmic ride to a teetering-on-the-brink pause just before an orgasmic climax. Might need some practice though to fit it all into 4:35 ;)
