National Poetry Month - Anthology

April first is an important date for a couple of reasons - and it's no April Fool's joke!  April 1st is the deadline to submit poetry to the 2023 Poetry Anthology - Exploration.   It is also the start of National Poetry Month.  I chose April to feature the poetry anthology for this specific reason.  What better way to celebrate this writing form?  There is an annual challenge as part of National Poetry Month, and that is National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo).  The challenge is to write one poem per day (or thirty poems total) during the month of April.  They don't have to be masterpieces; the important thing is to simply write!  It's a great way to try out new forms - check out the Poetry Writers' Club for prompts and feedback - or even to try writing poetry for the first time!   Let's feature poetry prominently in the story updates and weekly wrap-up!  Who's in?

I'm always looking forward to NaPoWriMo, but this year, due to other commitments, it won't be a poem a day, but some poems, if I may.

I think the more important thing is to write, rather than fill the quota ;)   I look forward to seeing what we come up with.

Not sure how well I'll do, but I have some questions.  I was going to PM @Valkyrie , but I know some others are new to this too and might be interested in the answers.

Is there a central location for posting the April poems (like somewhere in the poetry club), or do most post them as a "story" of some kind?  I think I saw where someone did it that way and posted a "chapter" a week.  Do the experienced have some guidance for those of us who might tackle this for the first time?

Most people here will post one "chapter" containing a week's worth of poems.  That's how I've done it in the past, and so does @Parker Owens and @Aditus  Some people will come up with a theme for the month, but that's totally not necessary.  There's no central location for posting them, but I think it would be a great idea to start a topic in the Poetry Club.  There's a lot of prompts there too, which are nice to jump start ideas if you get stuck.  Here are examples of NaPoWriMo "stories" from each of us:

I don't usually write poetry, but I gave it a try for the anthology, so I hope no one feels that my poem is an April Fool's joke.  🤪
