"Oh wait, I do"

So I was hanging out with Scott, Luke, and John last night and eventually John went home and Luke went to bed and Scott and I kept talking for awhile longer. Eventually, I decided to go home...and then realized I couldn't find my keys. I have a chronic problem keeping track of my things, particularly my keys, so it was nothing new, but certainly frustrating. On the bright side John has developed this amazing gift for finding things for me! Prior to last night the last several times I've lost my keys he's been able to find them and the other day when we were out somewhere we were about to walk away when he picked up a phone from a nearby table and said, "wait, isn't this your phone?" (it was :*) ).

Anyway, as I said, John had already gone home so he wasn't there to locate them for me. As a result Scott and I spent a good 45 minutes searching all the homes in house except Luke's (since he was sleeping) and looking in my truck. No luck. Eventually I said in frustration, "As soon as I find my keys I'm going to make a copy of my apartment key for you to hang on to so that next time this happens you'll have a key".

It was then that he paused, thought a minute and then responded, "Oh wait, I do." Turns out I'd had the same idea several months ago and given him one then. I do vaguely remember that now. Anyway, I always keep a spare key for my truck in my wallet because I'm apt to lock my keys inside, so I already had that, and so with the house-key I was able to go home. Still no luck finding my keys though. Looks like I must have left them somewhere while we were out :(

You wouldn't lose them if you'd just put them in your purse. :D

Exactly what I've been thinking since I first started carrying keys, a wallet, and a phone. I've always maintained that a purse would be extremely practical for many, if not most, guys and I have no doubt that I in particular would benefit immensely from one. It would also be fun to coordinate it with my shoes and belt! I would never be without hand lotion, lip balm, tissue, pen and paper, a mirror, a comb/brush, and in all likelihood a small tube of concealer (and probably lube and condoms as well :*) ). Nevertheless, even I am not immune to society and it's gender expectations, and since I don't identify as transsexual or have any desire to cross dress, I unfortunately don't think I'd feel comfortable carrying a purse. I can only pray that eventually society decides that men should have them too.

just can those man type purses, I forget what it's called,

Shoulder bags or messenger bags

they look like, laptop carry cases, but for like school etc.

The closest thing I have to a murse/man purse is the bag for my laptop. I love that thing. I should get a second one to carry other stuff. Maybe you should consider one, Kev. Also, it might not be a bad idea to cut down on the nights at the bar to clarify your memory a bit. I hope you don't mind my bluntness. I'm known for it. :P

Only geniuses regularly lose their keys. Normal people remember where they are all the time. Geniuses though have more important things on their minds.

btw, a fanny pack is not complimentary to any gay mans outfit... if you were even considering a fanny pack.

Fanny packs are only allowed for carrying the extra lube and dildos around. Said allowed fanny pack must be carried over your shoulder like a purse, and not worn around the waist. If asked, you will claim it's your straight brother's and you're only using it to transport your favorite dildos. Boy, won't your brother be pissed if he ever finds out you used his fanny pack to transport your dildos!

Thanks Drew :)

As I said, I do have a few things like that and they're nice, but they don't work with a lot of outfits and/or settings.

LOL, well that caught me off guard! And for the record I've tended to lose my things far more frequently when I haven't been drinking than when I have. Of course this is probably because in sheer amount of time spent, I haven't been drinking far more frequently than I have been so I've simply had a greater number of opportunities to lose things when completely sober. I've also been losing things my entire life and the reason I've always been so organized about where I put things is because it is easier to remember "keys are always on the rack, wallet is always on the nightstand" than actually trying to figure out where I had it last.

I'm sure I am more likely to lose things when drunk, and I appreciate your concern anyway so thanks ;)

I would definitely agree with that! :D

LOL, well I'll be honest with you, the majority of the clothes I wear aren't loose enough to easily accommodate all those items, and even when I do have some combination of them in my pockets because my clothes are big enough or because I just have to, I'm still more uncomfortable than if I didn't have them there. The extra weight, or bulk, or pointy things jabbing me, is just not something I really want, lol. Back pockets, shirt pockets, and jacket pockets are marginally more comfortable than the standard thigh pockets, but I still find having things there annoying.

Again, even going back to when I was a kid and dressed like every other kid with standard fit/style clothing, I haven't liked having things in my pockets, but tragically I've always liked carrying around a lot of things :(

Sounds like a fun option! Unfortunately I have neither a fanny pack nor a brother in the first place.

Be happy that you're not expected to have a purse!! Especially at my age, and with a 'proper' job, women are expected to always use a purse, and I hate purses, they're black holes in which all your possessions disappear, and they certainly don't help you keep track of your keys. And no, mobile and key compartments don't help.

It took me ages until I didn't keep losing my keys, but I mainly used to lose them at home, so that wasn't as bad. But pretty stressful when you needed to catch a train or something and couldn't find them...

Anyway, as someone said in a comment, only geniuses lose their keys. :D And other things too, I'm sure. Yes.

LOL, well I suppose that makes sense. I've often managed to loose my keys in just my pocket (they tend to slip down below the cell phone and wallet), so I can see how they might get away if they were in a purse :P
