Don't want to go

I'm leaving Sunny California and heading to Chicago for the next 8 days. My littler sister is graduating from college and the entire family is getting together for the graduation as well as for Thanksgiving. First time we'll all be together since 4 years ago.

It's odd, but I don't really want to go.

I just checked the weather in Chitown and it said it was 36 degrees, but feels like 26  .

26? Right now it's 78 degrees here in Central California. I'm sitting here in shorts, but tomorrow I'm going to have layers of clothes. I planned on bringing my leather jacket, but I think a parka might be more appropriate (which I don't have).

I wonder if a 'Happy Graduation' email will suffice instead of my presence?

Okay, that won't go over, so I have no choice but to get on the plane and go.

Meh, at least I'll be able to visit with some old friends.

If I'd somehow experienced the Boston winters *before* choosing my college, I think I'd be getting my degree in a much different and much sunnier place (i.e. freaking Palo Alto). Anyhow, I'm sure the warmth and joy of a family reunion will banish the frost, no? :)

Come on Vic! Thicken your blood! Besides, Chicago is a great city, one of the best in the world.

Welcome to weather in Illinois! The only thing blocking the cold wind is the occassional stray cow!

Mark is right though. Chicago is a great city. Take in the museums if you can - they're great!

I don't really have anything to add, I just wanted to see that phrase "Mark is right" one more time in print. :P

Warmth & Joy  . You don't know my family too well. Thanks for the laugh.

Let's see, the guy sitting next to me on the plane blew his nose so much that he had a mountain of clumped up tissue paper next to me.

My young niece has a cold and has been hacking up a lung for the last 24 hours.

I had dinner with one of my best friends and her spouse last night, and he was coughing and had a runny nose.

Odds of Vic getting sick? 3 to 1 (and I've only been here 1 day and 1/2.

I grew up in Illinois and went to college in Urbana/Champaign, so the cold weather and such isn't new to me. I was just hoping I'd only be visiting/returning in May or September :D .

Welcome to GA Greg!

Yeah...it's not like that's going to happen too often. :P

Try to have a nice visit, Vic. And start taking a lot of zinc and vitamin C.
