jdmotion Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 (edited) Here where hearts beat like drums, country to nations, a sight labeled a dream. A call to arms when a fire burns through the people in a golden stream. A horrid site we behold. The men with smiles on their faces wait for a knife to enter their back. They pay with their lives for the courage we lack. Here where ignorance fuels emotion, a man holds a knife. He's ready to kill those who challenge his devotion to a hollowed vision of life. With his halo ready he swings the knife to the left. As heads roll a corporation places its bet on what is left. Here where those who gave their shirts of their back were taken because they questioned the answers that were given as fact. Those elected to fight, dropped the torch and lost their way in the middle of the night. The future is fortold, a path set forth not in stone but in the minds of those that will always conform. Here at dawn many will tell the names of those that in the face of war bled for what is right. Where a flower grows in the dust nursed by the tears of those that in the shade found themselves lost, a vision in gold gave hope to the bold and inspired those whose minds have yet to mold. I LOVE this last line! It's hands down beautiful, honest. <3 Your poem is flowing, powerful, and deep. Keep it up!
AFriendlyFace Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 It was a very moving poem about war and politics (at least that's what it sounded like to me). Nice job
