methodwriter85 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I just got my license renewed. I took an absolutely horrible license picture. Apparently, you can't even smile in license photos now, because of the federal face recognition program that's in place now. I look like crap in that photo. I'm seriously considering coughing up extra money to get the federal licenses that will be coming out, so I don't have to look at my horrid license photo for five years. It's just shocking to me, I suppose, because my first license photo was great. Anyone want to commiserate with me in having a horrible license picture?
Nephylim Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Many comiserations on your crappy photo But at least you have a license.
Site Administrator Cia Posted December 5, 2009 Site Administrator Posted December 5, 2009 I had to renew my license at either full term pregnant or having just had a newborn. I ended up having my son early, so newborn it was. Soo..just had baby boy, little to no sleep, extra weight...can you imagine the picture hell I am carrying in my wallet?
thatboyChase Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 they are always bad, mine looks really good though, I'm smiling really big and everybody calls it "cute" sorry champ oh and my cheeks were a bit rosy cause I had a sunburn
MikeL Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 (edited) I've got a good deal on my license picture. In Tennessee, when you reach age 60, you never have to have a new picture on your driver's license ever again. The way my birthday fell in relation to my renewal date, I will forever be using my 55 year old picture. I sure looked a lot younger then. Edited December 6, 2009 by MikeL

methodwriter85 Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 There are plans for a federal license, yes. Mainly because getting into Canada and Mexico is no longer doable with a regular license. It's called Real ID: http://www.stateline.org/live/details/story?contentId=270956
Jack Frost Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 (edited) There are plans for a federal license, yes. Mainly because getting into Canada and Mexico is no longer doable with a regular license. It's called Real ID: http://www.stateline.org/live/details/story?contentId=270956 They're not creating a federal licence, but enhancing current state licences to meet the federal government new rules so Uncle Sam could accept them as ID. Everyone would have to get one. The idea of a federal licence will make the states go apeshit because it's a state right. Basically... If your licence has all of these: "Each card must include, at a minimum, the person's full legal name, signature, date of birth, gender, driver's license or identification card number. It also includes a photograph of the person's face and the address of principal residence"; your licence is already RealID and you're forever stuck with that photo for the next four years. However, the Congress may amend or repeal that law. It's all on the Wiki. And licences that let you cross the border are different from normal licence (just more enhanced). They will be still issued by the states if they offer such thing. The federal government already offers passcards for this purpose. Edited December 5, 2009 by Jack Frost
methodwriter85 Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 I think I'm going to "accidentally" lose my license in spring or so. I always look better in the spring.
Krista Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Heh.. when I turned 21 oh so long ago... they didn't give me a count down like they normally did.. they just said.. "Ready" and I was like, "yeah..." then before I knew it I was blinded by the flash.. Luckily my ditzy self always has some sort of smile on my face, so I wasn't completely lost.. I would've hated to carry that sucker around if it did turn out bad..

Now my school photo on the other hand... ugh
Jack Frost Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Good thing PA DMV shows me the pic and ask me if it's ok to put it on or I want to try again.
Y_B Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 It's funny how much people fret over pictures of themselves. I mean, people who know you or have seen you already know what you look like. One bad picture, or inversely, one great picture will not change anyone's perception of you. It's why I love taking random picture of people on my phone and tagging them on Facebook....I find it endlessly hilarious when people go "This is SICK of me!!", "Grossssss", or "Taking this off pleaasse!!!" and untag themselves
Tiger Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Since I seem to move every couple of years, I have to get it re-done more than most. I hate it.
TetRefine Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The flash from the camera was way to bright. It took 4 tries before I could finally keep my eyes open for the picture.
