Maybe you should try the gay authors home page and look from there. I think you need to use the link that says Hosted Authors.

BTW, people still use Nifty????..lol...jk. I just havent been back since I found GA, but I know they have some good stories there, just not as good as the ones here

Yep, some of us do still use Nifty, and despite the amount of drek in it, it still is the biggest and arguably best resource of its type out there.

 

The things that Nifty's got going for it are its universality and centrality-- pretty much everyone knows about it, and you can track a lot of different stories at once. When authors move other places (yeah, even to here) it's far too easy to lose track of them, or miss that they moved, and when people post to their own piece of the web you might not ever find them and miss a good read. (Though it desperately needs an index of stuff that doesn't suck in a bad way)

 

Nifty's also always there, so you very rarely have to worry about a story you once read going missing because the author let his website lapse, or get yanked because it violated his ISP's TOS, or because he moved ISPs again and you missed the stories moving too.

 

A lot of people got started on Nifty. Sure, some of them should be stopped and never let near a keyboard again, but if it weren't for Nifty many people'd never know about some very good authors (including both dkstories and Dom Luka), and I think that'd be a shame.

 

And yeah, for the record, I think that anyone who writes gay fiction and releases it on the web should post it to Nifty, even if they've got their own website, or a spot on someone else's. A time delay is fine, and point to your 'official' home, but if it passes Nifty's TOS, please put it there too.

I hope no one thinks I was dissing Nifty, because I wasn't. I was just giving Gay Authors their props for being a better place to find storys .I think Nifty is good, and actually Im following a really good story right now by an author who isn't hosted here, but probably should be, on nifty, but The Zot is right.....they do need to have a section that is for the stories that dont suck.

I know that this is in reverse(if that makes any sense ) but I actually found out about Gay Authors before I found out about Nifty, so they never had a chance to be #1 in my eyes. But you are right, The Zot. Nifty is a good place to find different stuff.

Myr added a section in the user profile to put in links to the stories people have written -- hopefully folks who're tagged as authors will take advantage of it and add in their pointers...
