Guest xyvortex Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 read it, loved it, always do. I crave every chapter that comes out because I love reading along to Quin as he comes to terms with himself. I hate every chapter because I know that it's one chapter closer to the end... wait... Just never end the story! okay? well that's settled
NickolasJames8 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 wait... Just never end the story! okay? well that's settled <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yay!!! Im with you
sat8997 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) Mrs. Moore will want to know what's going on. Quinn won't be able to answer other than to tell her Jude doesn't get along with his parents and lives on his own. She'll want to talk to Jude, see if he's okay. Jude doesn't want to lie to her so Quinn will have to get off the fence and let Jude tell her the truth. She'll be understanding about Jude, so that will prompt Quinn to talk about himself. Marissa and Brad run off to Reno for a quicky wedding. Well, it could happen this way......... Sharon Edited September 6, 2005 by sat8997
Sugarmag Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I read it this morning around 5:30. I had to get to work so I couldn't post earlier. It was another great chapter. I think they get better and better. I am unsure how to feel about the conversation between Marisa and Quinn. I like the fact that Quinn stood up to her and told her what kind of person she had become. They may have been friends their whole lives, but they have grown into different people. I do think Marissa does want to still be friends with Quinn, but she has a way to go. She still says "those people" and she was able to justify her outing Trina to the whole school. It took Quinn pointing out how it hurt Trina before Marissa even admitted it was wrong. Why would Quinn think she would be any different with him other than how it makes her look. He may have been harsh with her, but I think she needed it. If she wanted to fix her friendship with Quinn she would have told him that she cared about him not how he made her look. Instead she just insulted him and left. I love how protective Jude is of Quinn. The way he reacted to Brad's comment was sweet. No matter what Quinn has said or done Jude sees that Quinn is a good person and deserves to be treated like one. I also loved Jude's reaction to the picture. Bree's reaction was good to. Although Quinn may have cut her off I think I know what she was going to say. I am a bit upset at Quinn
AFriendlyFace Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 (edited) Well I definitely agree with Michael et al. Quinn should have insisted on going with Jude and called his mom from the car (if he had his phone) or once they got to Jude's place. And yes I think he could have come up with something more supportive to say then "will I see you again?". I found Quinn very frustrating this entire chapter, especially the way he treated Jude. First of all after the romantic way Jude woke him up the best he could do was reproach him and then shove past him to get dressed. Also he DIDN'T call Jude back yet again after his talk with Marissa. Then it never even crossed his mind that Jude's parents owned a place on Union, even though Jude was clearly upset about the idea of having lunch AFTER he found out they were going to a place on Union. And then yeah, he should have been much more supportive of Jude after his mother ambushed him like that. I kept hoping he would say something like "come back to the table, and you can tell my mother anything she asks as far as I'm concerned". Although on the other hand I doubt Jude would have been in the mood to talk about that stuff with Quinn's family right then anyway. Quinn should have just gone with him. Anyway I think everyone's being far too hard on Marissa and far too easy on Quinn where they are concerned. Bao is right when it comes to Marissa, Quinn is the one who has the problem. She responded better than either Bree or Brad initially. She basically said "hey you can talk to me about it" and "maybe I can understand", and then he just threw all that in her face and told her off. THEN instead of really being mean or insulting she just said that she STILL wanted to be his friend. And the self-centered A** still couldn't think about anything else but whether or not SHE'D CAUSE TROUBLE FOR HIM. When basically he'd been about as mean as he could, it almost seemed like he was trying to tick her off enough to out him. In my opinion he was mean, insensitive and just plain stupid and tactless. OK so maybe he was trying to stick up for Trina or something, but I don't think that was the time or the way. I mean everyone's treated someone else badly before, and as regretable as it is, in this instance especially I think it should have been kept seperate. I mean what she said is true, she hated Trina and always has, whereas Quinn "is the boy she fell in love with at twelve", if she's a half decent human being there's every reason to believe she WOULD treat them differently. I'm not saying what she did to Trina wasn't wrong, it was, but they did have a long history of enmity between them so it is different (I don't even think the Janie comparison is warrented, Janie turned on Aiden, Marissa and Trina were ALWAYS against each other). Finally whatever the reason Mar and Brad are having lunch together (and I agree it could be any of the reasons stated above), it could also be something as simple as two friends having lunch together, I'm sure Quinn came up, and they probably vented about him (which I think they'd have every right to do), but basically they've been close since childhood, so it shouldn't be that odd that they'd get together for lunch. If Quinn were really maturing and trying to get past all this stuff, he'd have waved or gone over to say hi or something. Anyway I like Quinn and I'm trying to cut him some slack, but I almost can't help but think that Jude deserves better. And perhaps Mar does too. But I'm sure when he gets back to normal, and quits being so self obsesed he'll be really great to Jude and make it up to him, and maybe he'll treat his friends and family a little better too. Rocketcnj Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Well I have to say A Friendly Face said it perfectly...I am not a happy camper with Quinn right now...I have been a big defender of his but to me he has a dreamy wonderful boyfriend in Jude who is a good person, down to earth (and yeah, maybe Quinn doesn't quite now how to do the boyfriend thing of what to say and do (with Marissa they were more childhood friends so they knew each other as friends) but this isn't about that..It really is about seeing what Jude is going through...geez, stand up do the right thing and stand by your Man...common sense and the dufus misses it....he missed that Jude's parents had a place on Union Street....and when that happens, at least say to Mrs. Moore, do you mind if we go to lunch somewhere else....we had planned to eat at the Mall or something....ok, maybe that wouldn't work with Mrs. Moore..but at least get your man back to the table and tell Jude, its ok..you can be honest..or just take off with Jude, call Mom from the car or when you get to Jude's and say you didn't want Jude driving alone he was too upset...its easy enough for Mom to accept that. With Marissa, she did offer an olive branch..so why not just accept it...and see what Marissa does..and Quinn knows she is too self centered to want to draw attention to herself that she had a Gay boyfriend by outing him and that they went out for a few years.....it would look "bad" for her and she would be mocked...Marissa wouldn't want that kind of attention....so, accept the olive branch, and move on. I will wait and see what Quinn does..but I feel Jude deserved far better from Quinn...as Snow Dog and others have said, time for Quinn to get his head out of his butt and take care of his Jude, who has been there for Quinn every step of the way. and I do have to agree as to the bedroom scene...geez, the door was locked....Bree was asleep and Quinn could have gotten affectionate with Jude and hey even if they didn't get totally frisky..some snuggle and kissing and caressing ain't going to wake any one up....poor Jude indeed... ok, now I am so frurstrated, going to work some of it at the gym..and I know chapter 21 won't be here for a while based on Dom's blog....so at least I can read everyone's comments...it helps in between chapters.... I am so hoping Quinn wakes up next chapter and gets it in gear...for Jude's sake and for his sake....and their sake......grrr..... Michael
vision Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I think it's good to see Quinn starting to get over his issues, which he has many of. It was good to see him somewhat happy for once, and even supporting Jude for once, since he has used Jude as a crutch for so long. I get tired of those stories where people meet, issues are solved an it's happily ever after, cause thats not real life for 99% of people, I hope that Quinn and Jude don't end up like that, sure Quinn has some issues to solve, as does Jude but I'd rather have some of the current drama than none at all. Overall a good chapter, I liked 19 more, but they were both good.
Ann Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I finally had time to read the last few chapters and they were excellent! Thank you Dom! I completely agree that I
rknapp Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 The nice thing that could come of this new situation with Marissa would be that she convinces Brad to hear Quinn out, talk about what both guys are feeling right about now about each other, and try to repair the relationship they had. After all, the night Quinn came out to Brad, Brad had come looking for him, even going all of the way to Judes apartment, just to talk. And lets not forget that Brad probably still has a lot of shit going on with his mothers pregnancy, I believe his father is still out of town? What kind of husband does that anyway... To this point in the story, besides Brad (who is still developing), I have been very pleased with everyone's reactions to Quinns sexuality. Bree said she is on his side 100%, and even (almost) said the picture was *ahem* Marissa deserved so much better than what Quinn was giving her. She basically said she knew for a while, and wasn't going to tell anyone, even if that meant she was basically confirming the selfishness that Quinn has been accusing her of the entire story. It pissed me off that Quinn said what he said to her, not even a "thank you for not hating me"! It's times like these when he becomes exactly what he says about Marissa, concerned only for himself. He already pissed off Bree once with that attitude, but I guess some people just never learn the first time. He also still has a chance to not screw things up with Jude either, after all, he probably didn't think to hop in the car because he still has his mothers dictatorial umbrella hanging over his head. I'd have done the same thing if in that situation, and then go home with mom and sister, and then say "I want to check on Jude, be back in a couple of hours." Mom will understand, after what just happened at the restaurant. As for the new situation with Brad and Mar, I don't he's trying to get into her pants, and vice versa, MOSTLY because they've been friends for as long as they can remember. His relationship with her might not be too far off from his relationship with Bree. That said, I am going to assume that there is no malpractice going on here. After all, Marissa COULD end up just like Taylor, and try to help Quinn, and possibly blossom as a wonderful and vital character, just like Taylor. For Brad, we could be in for a situation similar to Nicky, just a lot less awkward since it is in a much shorter time frame and Quinn didn't skip town the next day like Owen did. But, alas, that is all up to one Mr. Dom Luka and his sinister mind (seriously, what's with all these cliffhangers man??)
Guest chris_king_2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 *falls over with a happy sigh* Chapter 20. Hurray! Already waiting impatiently for Chapter 21....
Tye Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 You know, not to get off subject too much, but every time I find a new chapter posted, I feel like it's Christmas all over again...yeah, I just thought I'd share that. Hehe. GREAT CHAPTER!
Conner Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I believe it's clear that Quinn would not be in the situation that he's presently in had it not been for his meeting Jude. He'd still be tucked way in the closet clinging to denial and fear. His feelings for Jude and his desire to continue to have Jude in his life have caused him to take at least a step out of that closet. Remember Quinn saying that his life would be just fine if only Jude would stop kissing him. Quinn is dealing and he's doing the best he can. He's always had the option of ignoring Jude. He's chosen not to. Frankly, for Quinn, I find that absolutely amazing. It also says a great deal about Jude. The best Quinn could offer Jude in the closing scene of the last chapter was, "Will I hear from you?" For Jude, I believe that was enough. Jude wants to be there for Quinn and he's committed to that as long as he continues to believe that Quinn wants him there. Quinn could have said, "Listen, Jude, that scene with your mother has really put me in a tight spot. I'm sorry. I can't see you anymore." No doubt the restaurant scene between Jude and his mother had to be extremely embarassing for Jude with Quinn and his family there. By and large, though, I believe that Jude has moved on in terms of his relationship with his parents. His concern, as I see it, is that his family situation is now impacting on Quinn - and may well force Quinn to come out to his mother before he's ready. Being who he is, Jude may well remove himself from the relationship. If he does that, the ball will be clearly in Quinn's court. Hugs, Conner
Rabble_Rouser Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 I was just re-reading chapter 19 to get a last TOU fix before I head out for some vacation (after a couple of days with no internet I usually accept the situation and they take the restraints off ) With the way things were left off in Ch.20, I hope Jude remembers his "bon mots" from ch.19.... glomph Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 No doubt the restaurant scene between Jude and his mother had to be extremely embarassing for Jude with Quinn and his family there. It would be embarassing in front of total strangers, or even without an audience, if that makes any sense.

In fact I think Vic has now ruined the whole story completely (remebers that Vic is sick, and not in a good way)... Just kidding Vic sorry, I'm sure Dom never really intended to do that. :king: Snow Dog Edited September 11, 2005 by Snow Dog
