Bleu Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 We have chosen our hotel, which is quite a way from the Youth Hostel people are planning on staying at, but really its only 10 minutes on the 'tube'. I am coming up with ideas for restaurants etc that will be affordable for all, and i will distribute these by Private message for everyone to vote on. Paya and I are staying very VERY close to SoHo, and so im also researching gay specific events and venues (though remembering that not everyone is a "club" person - myself included). Westie, thanks for the research that you're doing to make things easier for the rest of us. The unknown element for me so far is whether I'll drive to London, as part of a longer stay in the UK, or whether I'll take the train over. I have my own list of restaurants in the Soho area but they are mostly Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, etc., which might not suit everyone's tastes.
Freddyness Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Soho Seriously... ouch don't sleep outside if your staying there
Westie Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Soho Seriously... ouch don't sleep outside if your staying there I know SoHo very well. People have this misconception that the area is "rough" but nothing could be further from the truth. SoHo accepts everyone, and by that very nature it has a gravitational pull to those who are not accepted anywhere else. It is only natural that such a place should earn a bad reputation, but actually, it is completely undeserved.

They are rougher than normal hoods at night. Sincerly just out side greater london.

Bleu Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Freddy, we were just kidding about sleeping under a bridge Did someone else mention sleeping outside
Freddyness Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Blue I thought you were serious as it saves money... (is slightly slow)
Bleu Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Blue I thought you were serious as it saves money... (is slightly slow) Hahaha, I was most certainly kidding. I would not be spending the money to come from abroad if I couldn't at least afford a couple of nights at a hotel. The first one who suggested sleeping under a bridge was Circle and I'm pretty sure that was some dry humour from him as well. I'm sure he'll confirm that sooner or later. Happy to see you joining us, Robyn!
Circle Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Yes it was dry humour alright. The worst case scenario is that I'll just not sleep at all and be left wandering in the streets of London after dark.

Hahaha, lol Circle... I think there's a room where they keep luggage in the hotel I've booked. You could borrow a pillow.
Circle Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 A room where they keep luggages? Coolio. I'll try and ask if they'd allow me to sleep in one.
Elezbed Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I would like to attend too if I am sure to have the money this summer...
paya Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 I would like to attend too if I am sure to have the money this summer... As always, the best prices are obtained well in advance... so hurry up! And you'll be of course welcome!
Nephylim Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 About to book. What days are we looking at? More importantly what nights. Are we doing Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday (bank holiday on monday) or all three. I'm easy.... you wish
Nephylim Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Okay, so I have booked for the Friday to Monday. I have had to bring a friend with me because the only room that was really feasilble was a 2 room private which I could only afford if I share it. She's cool, although she talks and smokes too much and works as an erm... professional... um... escort. I don't mind bringing her because she's not as cute, sexy, tall, or intersting as me so she'll make me look better So, i'm on my way
chaocontrol6 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Oooo I am coming as well with Johnathan Still looking at hotels at the moment but I am thinking that providing it is reasonably priced (ie not expensive ) and what not then it should be possible Any suggestions on where to go? From KNUCKLES *hopes that Frosty reads this *
Nephylim Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Good idea Jon. The YHA is very cheap. If you stay in a dorm it's around £25 a night. If you book through Hostelworld you only have to pay a 10% deposit now and the rest when you arrive. Good deals. I can't manage a dorm with my health problems so I have a private room so we could have a party No chains, I promise... although it is in Soho
Bleu Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Ummm... my plans for the summer are being slightly completely modified but I think I can still manage to be at the GA meet at the dates that were announced. That is, if I manage to come back from my vacation However, to anyone whom I may have promised a ride... I don't know whether I will drive to England. More info next month probably.

Bleu Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Don't you dare not to arrive! Moreover, drag him over with you!!! I wish I could but it's not going to be possible this year I'm afraid.
Johnathan Colourfield Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Its going to be expensive i'm sure i can do it i hope
Agaith Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I wish I could but it's not going to be possible this year I'm afraid. After you threatening to kidnap me to get me to the meet you better not bail on us
Bleu Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 After you threatening to kidnap me to get me to the meet you better not bail on us Kidnapping? I don't remember that Anyway... don't worry, I'm working on a devious plan to have a long and nice vacation far away, but still make it back on time for a few days in London. I might be seriously jet-lagged the first night though.
