Sorry to hear of his passing, but I assumed he had passed away years ago since you just never heard from him or saw him.

Well he did get the Presidential Medal of Freedom in February 2011 and was prominent in the festivities with the Cardinal's win of the World Series in 2011.  But he was not controversial, and always genial which is not what gets into the news.....
