methodwriter85 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I just realized that it's actually a bit of an anachronism that Hank's name is Hannah. Hank would have been born in the 1960's, when the name was ranked 839th.The name fell out of the top 500 after the 1930's and wasn't very popular in the 1940's, the 50's, the 60's, and the 70's. It didn't explode in popularity until the 1980's, when it reached the top 100, and the 90's, when it was ranked 11. Therefore it's a name that would be more appropriate to Will's generation (more Courtney's, actually), not Brad's. Unless, of course, Hank's family is Jewish, which would actually be pretty interesting. New Jersey does have a pretty big Jewish population. Our team is usually really good at catching the anachronisms (there was a scene where Gathan was originally showing photos on a camera cell phone, which did exist in 2000 but not on the domestic market), so it kind of bums me out whenever I realize there's an "oops." Have any of you guys noticed ay other anachronisms that we've failed to catch?
Gene Splicer PHD Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 She could be named after a relative or friend...
Mark Arbour Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Just because a name wasn't popular doesn't mean it's an anachronism. As Gene said, it could very well have been a family name.
Westie Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 A name not being popular means there wont be fifty in a room, but the fact that it made the list at 839 means at least some people had it. I've said before that Mark isnt polling the common denominators in society - this family is something extra ordinary. It makes sense that things happen ahead of the curve or even as outliers....

Does this mean we'll get characters named things like Addison, Jayden, and Aiden soon? I think it's funny when similiar sounding names become popular at the same time, like the Aiden/Jayden thing, and the Madison/Addison deal. Edited June 19, 2013 by methodwriter85
