Malfunction implies an accident - that it was unplanned.  I still do not believe that was the case.

I dunno, I don't think Amanda Palmer's Glastonbury tit was planned, that just sort of, well, happened. And she didn't care, but the Daily Mail thought it was super huge news (they called that a wardrobe malfunction as well). The nakedness at the gig in London, when she performed her response to the Daily Mail, was definitely planned, though.
