JamesSavik
We often talk about Summer Movie Season. Not this summer. With few exceptions, the movies sucked balls. They were boring, politically correct horse shit, lame assed comedies that laughed at their own jokes or avant-garde film skool bullshit. What went wrong? When the most interesting character of the whole summer is a talking raccoon and his buddy, a tree with a mono-syllabic vocabulary, you have to know that the creative side of Hollywood has obviously caught the zombie virus. It appears that now Hollywood is a brain dead zombie lurching from bad sequel to bad sequel moaning no brainz, we have no f-ing brainz. You could tell that many of these summer so called movies weren't released. They escaped. Like the rabid, diseased animals that they are, should be tracked down and shot. MikeL
I'm not a big movie goer. And since I'm retired, I don't notice the seasonality of movies. I think the movie industry has really hit the skids in recent years. The worst people in the industry have to be the script writers; they seem to have such a limited vocabulary that they keep on using one word repeatedly. TV is no better, but we expect the summer to be slow. Except for a couple of edgy dramas like The Bridge and Tyrant, I found nothing of interest the last three months. Tomas
Hollywood hasn't had (with few exceptions) any imaginative, truly creative people since the 50s and 60s. All they seem to be able to do is very poor rehashes and sequels of the works of the really creative people of the past. Of course that is just my opinion. yours may vary.
joann414
When I go shopping or whatever, I try to find the hubby a new dvd to watch. It's been like hunting a needle in a haystack lately. He'd wonder what I was thinking if I brought him the new releases. It's a chore to find a good movie. I actually found a great m/m movie on Netflix, and he loved it. It was not all sex as much as it was a great storyline a good characters. He was absorbed in all of it. That's why I hate for people to view Gay movies as and 'in the box' thing. There's a lot of meaning and enjoyment out there. Also come great comedy. I saw him perusing the other gay movies and he even watched 'Yossi" but said it was too sad for him. He's an action guy Edited September 10, 2014 by joann414
zaf89
Most of the "mainstream" Hollywood blockbuster-type movies have sucked for years now, in my opinion. Not all of them by any means, but a good majority are drivel to me.
C J
I don't watch movies very often. It's a waste of time, even if the movie is good. I never liked sitting in a chair watching someone else live some imagined life. I like being active, moving around, living my life and enjoying my story. I'm a little strange that way I guess. When ever I've gone to a movie I feel like I just got out of a shoe box when I get up to leave. It's not something I like to experience. I would rather go to adventureland any time. I wasn't made to sit in a chair for hours at a time, I was made to move and do things. I think it's the people who make the movies who have all the fun. Everyone else seems to just want something to amuse themselves, as long as they're gonna be sitting on their butts anyway. I don't call that living. I call it mindless existence. Bill W
Hollywood might be reacting to the lower ticket sales recently. If people aren't going to the movies, why make so many, especially if they can't make a lot of money off them. What they fail to realize is people aren't going because most movies suck.

It's that vicious circle thing - we don't go because the movies are not that good, so they put less money and effort in, so the movies go from mediocre to bad, so we go less...

JamesSavik
Just saying- There's probably THIRTY stories here that made into screenplays and shot as a movies that would be better than anything that came from Hollyweird this summer. Dom or Comicality's stuff easily. And any number of others.
