The following is from page 90 of Publication 17 (Your Federal Income Tax For Individuals) from http://www.irs.gov

Stolen property. If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless in the same year, you return it to its rightful owner.

You have to admire them. The Internal Revenue Service of the USA is thorough. It means that anyone who steals something and doesn't report it in their tax return, can be charged with tax offenses in addition to any other charges.

What about an official liscence to be a drug dealer (for illegal drugs?) Complete with tax stamps for the bags of illegal drugs?

The State of Arizona was trying to do what the IRS is doing; gaining another legal tool. However, the took aim, fired, and scored a direct hit on their own foot. The liscence law has been used in court as a defence by drug dealers.

Wow! I wonder if anyone has a tax law to top this one?

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has been spending a lot of time investigating brothels and prostitution, but they're legal here. They have even produced guidelines on what prostitutes are allowed to claim as legitimate tax deductions:

I'm sure there was an article about how the ATO had undercover teams to investigate brothels, but I can't track it down....
