  1. Hmm, this song is very interesting to me because it is explicitly gay in the 1980s, and I've never heard of it before. According to Wikipedia, it became a Top 40 Club hit in both the UK and the US.
  2. I would think that most of the UK (public transportation wise) is relatively similar to the US. Public transportation is great in and around the major urban centers, and gets sparser as you get farther away from the city and population density drops.
  3. Wow, I too had forgotten all about In The Meantime until I clicked on your link. I freakin' love that song. As to when I would go back to, I would go back to the not-so-long passed year of 2013. So many mistakes were made on my part in my personal life its horrible. They sometimes still come back to bite me now from time to time.
  4. If I had had a library like that to study in during college, I probably would have been a 4.0 student.
  5. But having to pay the bridge toll to go back into PA from New Jersey basically negates any savings. Plus the gas station right by my building is only $2.53, which isn't really all that bad considering its the Northeast. The worst was when I was working out in the suburbs but living in the city. I could have taken Regional Rail, but it would have taken forever to do a reverse commute, so I drove. But I also needed to buy a SEPTA pass because daily living is impossible here with relying on a car to get everywhere. So, I was paying $3.50-3.70 a gallon for gas plus spending the $91 a month for a SEPTA pass. It got so bad that transportation expenses were literally destroying my paycheck on top of having to pay federal, state, AND city wage taxes.
  6. The great thing about the few major cities in America that have good public transportation is not being held hostage to your car and the price of gas. I live a block from a subway stop and there is a bus stop right outside my doorstep. With the crazy traffic and a stop light at every block, its often faster, less aggravating and definitely cheaper to not drive.
  7. When someone only writes a couple sentences about a supposedly "very serious topic", then I call bullshit.
  8. Hmm, the favorite thing I "got" this year was an apartment in the city with my boyfriend. After six months, a whole bunch of $$$, and a lot of man-hours, it is finally starting to come together nicely with decorating and making it feel homey. It now feels more like home to me then my childhood house I spent the first 18 years of my life in. Plus its pretty awesome to have a bedroom where I get to go to bed and wake up every morning with him. My favorite gift is the one I'm going to give my boyfriend for Christmas when he comes up tomorrow to visit. I'm not gonna say what it is on the off chance he decides to log back on and sees this.
  9. John Newman's Love Me Again.
  10. Cool Kids was definitely the most interesting song of this year, IMO.
  11. Interesting how most people who have posted in here are rural country dwellers. That depends on what your looking for. The US is massive and incredibly diverse. We have everything from hyper-urban places like the cities of the Northeast Corridor to vast rural stretches in just about every corner of the country. You can find every kind of possible living situation in the US, which makes it unique.
  12. He'll be instantly forgotten and cast back into the general pool once the next cute, young white boy comes along on the internet.
  13. This is a classic that will (rightfully) never die. I still hear it played in the gay clubs here from time to time. Here's another classic that has endured the years and still gets play time in the 21st Century. One of my all time favorites.
  14. I live in Philadelphia now and I love it, but I'd love to go about 100 miles north to Manhattan ideally. Hopefully that'll happen in a couple years.
  15. Zayne Malik looks ugly in that new video. Never thought I'd say that....
  16. Happy birthday Jeremy.
  17. I wouldn't say it brings me to tears, but it definitely puts me in a depressed/dark mood.
  18. This is old news. It went viral in August of 2012.
  19. Blame, by Calvin Harris ft. John Newman.
  20. Personally, I think it's incredibly selfish for someone to do it so publicly in front of other people. If you want to take your own life, fine, that is your right. But do not do it in a public place where you are going to traumatize a bunch of innocent, unsuspecting passerbys. I ride the subway every day and this always worries me that someone is going to jump or accidentally fall as the train pulls into the station... On a side note, its unusual for women to take their lives in such a bloody and messy way. They tend to stick to pills or slitting their wrists, because its relatively painless and "more feminine". Men tend to be the ones who eat the barrel of a gun or jump from a high place or in front of a train.
  21. 17 is pretty close to 18.....
  22. It is entirely possible my environment and age skew my perception. I live in a major city with a sizeable gay population and a thriving gay bar/club scene. I also go to a gym where the majority of the guys there are gay and under 35. So maybe all those factors combine to give me a narrower perception.
  23. Because gay culture is obviously male dominated, and therefor sex dominated. Men like younger people for sex, whether they be gay or straight. But when you take out any female influence, the whole age factor just gets amplified. I have spent enough time in bars and clubs to see that youth and beauty is worshipped in gay culture.
  24. Plus Target is using him as their publicity bitch. ....no one ever took secret creepy pictures of me when I worked at Target...
  25. Growing up gay in an environment where it wasn't really accepted taught me a lot about getting through tough times and just building personal toughness. When I was going through those periods of turmoil as a teenager, I would have given anything to turn straight because my life would have been so much easier. But after getting through those periods and coming out better and stronger on the other side, I see those rough times as extremely valuable in the lessons I learned from them. The human mind can endure a lot of pain and rejection if it sees a possibly brighter future. In high school I mentally detached myself from a lot of what was going on around me in the present and set my mind on the future. My point is, being gay and having to go through all those trials that straight people don't really helped turn me into the person I am today, and I like where I'm at. And plus, I like having sex with guys waaaaaaay too much to ever give up.
