  1. Wow, more then a million people turned out today in Boston for the victory parade. For those who don't know, thats about twice the population of the entire city of Boston.
  2. Arranged marriages completely takes away free will and choice of people, in my opinion.
  3. Interesting picture amongst the Vancouver riots last night. Make Love, Not Riots
  4. Do I get Tyler Seguin as my prize for winning? And sorry, you will never see me in 3 jerseys: A Yankees jersey, a Canadiens jersey, and now a Vancouver jersey. Oh yes, and I'm now a double .
  5. And the Boston fans celebrate with class!
  6. I've seen the Patriots win 3 Super Bowls, the Red Sox win 2 World Series titles, and Celtics win an NBA Championship, and now the Bruins win a Stanley Cup. The Stanley Cup is by far my most memorable of the 7 championships over the last 10 years. Oh, and I do believe this makes me the back-to-back GA NHL Playoffs Pool champion, does it not?
  7. Did you go to Game 6?
  8. Sorry, but personally insulting people with or without merit is what makes one a bully. I don't insult people. I argue their points and back them up with fact. People neg other people all the time for no good reason, anyone will tell you that. I'm not going to get into it with you. You have tried to provoke me in the past with outlandish comments and I'm not going to waste my time getting into a flame war with you.
  9. To be honest, I don't really give a rat's ass about reputation. I know I piss off people all the time with my strong opinions, and I often get negged pretty badly. I know of some people who won't even read my posts, they just hit the minus button. My problem to the system isn't because I care about my reputation, its because its such a snide, backstabbing way for people to disagree with one another without having a civil, intelligent discussion. The circumcision thread is a perfect example. Tim got negged like crazy for posting indisputable facts, and then got jumped on by people who offered no facts of their own. It happens to him, and several others on here way more then it should. The whole problem with the rep system is not with the actual number, but with the way it is so back-stabbingly abused.
  10. It still baffles me that the players and owners are willing to forfeit several billion ($4B by some estimates) over petty and easily fixable disputes.
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
  12. People abuse the pos/neg system all the time. Its just something you have to deal with like Lugh said.
  13. Who the hell is negging people in this thread? A pissy Canucks fan maybe?
  14. Nothing will take the place of football on Sunday afternoons during the fall. I don't want to watch the CFL and I sure as hell don't want to watch soccer. Hopefully the NCAA can shift some of the big time rivalry games like you mentioned to Sunday time slots. The intensity that goes into college rivalries is unmatched.
  15. Steve you are forever my favorite Canadian! Man, the Canucks absolutely suck when it comes to playing Boston. Being outscored 17-2 in 3 games at The Garden, thats pretty sad.
  16. Two more two more two more two more two more!!!
  17. Happy Birthday Vic!!!
  18. Happy Birthday Bob!!!
  19. That is very true. I've met a ton of amazing people on here who I've learned a so much from. People really trust each other here, which is evident about how much personal things some people you are close with on this site share with you. I truly love GA!
  20. We will agree to disagree then.
  21. I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to say. What I meant was, most of the popular American sports involve some sort of contact (football, hockey, lacrosse, even basketball, etc), and I think that is part of the reason they are so popular. Not all sports need violence to be good or entertaining. Just because they don't have violence does not make them wimpy. But when a sport like football, which involves a ton of very rough contact, starts to have rules that strictly limits some of the contact that has been allowed for years it seems like the NFL is getting away from that toughness. Its an essential part of the sport. I don't believe in fundamentally changing an integral part of the game (ex. blindside hits in football or fighting in hockey) because it ruins a part of it. The fans love it, as do the players, so leave it like it is. And no I wasn't aware of how the US did in the World Cup. I haven't watched or paid attention to more then 5 minutes of a soccer game since I was like 9.
  22. I made a reference to the whimpification of North American sports, and how its starting to resemble more and more like soccer, aka the anti-North American sport. And somehow it involved basketball. I think fighting is awesome because the NHL is holding out on the whimpification that the NFL is essentially doing.
  23. But those were exceptions to the norm. Playing basketball, guys are constantly throwing elbows down in the paint and there is a lot of pushing and shoving all the time. Nothing near the amount of physical contact that happens in basketball happens in soccer. I played soccer up until fourth grade (then I switched to football), and I also played basketball until 7th grade. Even at the fourth grade level, it was still pretty physical, and none of that ever happened in soccer except for the occasional accident.
  24. I think he was being sarcastic because it does seem like each team has a ton of timeouts and the coaches always seem to use them in a short period of time, one after the other.
  25. I strongly disagree with that point. Even though basketball is not a "contact sport", there is still a whole lot of contact. Much more then I have ever seen in ANY soccer game. The bat-shit insane fans are what turns soccer into a contact sport, not the actual sport itself.
