Fanfare and Triumphal March "Come, O conquering hero, come rejoice with us". What a party the morrow must bring. What a great Parade must there be with glitter guns and bedazzled shields, SpongeBob bandage streamers and garlands. But shall I be there weeping tears of sorrow, bereft of future joys and happiness? My daily course of laughter gone? O woe is me. Clothe me in sackcloth and ashes.

Chapter 7 Cowboy & The Date

Compare and contrast the two brothers. One brash, in your face, of the moment. The other restrained and careing and gentle. Marcus is attracted to both men. But can he find in just one of them exactly what he is looking for. Can Cameron give him a settled relationship, or Ryan excitement? -
I love that whilst Simon was establishing his position in the Juvenile Correctional Facility on his first day, the sheer delight that is Matt - " I'll fight them. I don't know how to fight but I'll figure it out" - was as promised baking him a cake with a file, albeit a nail file, in it. Perhaps the next cake will have a nail buffer in it and if Matt continues on his culinary career by his release date Simon could well have a full manicure set.

I love the ranch and its acceptance of divergence from a so called "norm". I love Jo and his willingness to ask and learn and accept. Shayna's appalling treatment of Jo Bass and Kidd is maybe exaggerated for the storyline BUT this attitude is still out here sometimes carefully hidden and insidious. I am reading this as a story of trust and hope and enlightenment.

Is Jamie in a hospital bed suffering a serious head injury with confusion and delusions? Is he in a waking dream? I can but await the next chapter. -
Rudyard Kipling " I keep six honest serving men (They taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who. WHAT? WHAT!WHAT?WHAT!WHAT? etc. Lucas/Loki !!!!! A totally mind-blowing chapter, but then they all are! Most heart-wrenching tear-shedding moment. Andy's possible last thoughts. That they were of Lucas. "Survive. Andy prayed....You beautiful chaotic idiot." Call me a romantic or what.

A chapter of surprises. Jesse's backstory. Hank's gentle handling of and protectiveness of Jesse. Jesse's failure to grasp that he is more than a "piece of equipment that had been serviced". And the sheriff?

Chapter 6 Shooting the Shot

Interesting take by Marcus on Cameron. Obvious attraction for hot sex but he realises that that is all Cameron has to offer. Cameron is "unfinished". Marcus is seeking someone with whom he can establish the kind of full relationship he had for the short period with Sean. -
Another informative chapter. Roman culture maintained on the Empire's frontier. Citizenship confers status. Arminius has acquired citizenship status but Ingomar has not. Dominus Petronus is calculating, and Marcus feels disturbed by the attention he is showing towards him and Ingomar.

I seem to have been walking around in a daze for days! What a drastic change! From the energetlc frenetic generally friendly jamboree to an ambush that takes Andy out of play and traps and renders Lucas impotent ( powerless to help, not the other kind one hopes. Nah definitely not the other!) Esca might feel triumphant now but he really should fear the forces he has aroused against him. Let's hear it loud and clear for the Allied Front and start blanket drives and knitting circles and rug pegging and I think Im taking too far and need to lie down.

I can't breathe. My hearts pounding. My minds in a whirl. I've come over all faint. I can't face breakfast. I need tea tea and more tea. Will 17 cups be enough. I never never expected an episode of such intensity of feeling. What are you doing to my heart? Why are you doing this. Why? why? why? OK. Existential(?) crisis over, no need to call for an ambulance. Yet. Don't know if I dare read next chapter. Yet.... I think I'll go back to bed.

Another tough chapter. Jesse is a tangle of emotions but Hank seems to understand what Jesse is going through. Even the necessity, for that is what it was, to relieve the sexual tension Jesse was experiencing.

Hank offers a room. Jesse accepts it but the memory is there of the room in which he was abused at his stepfathers. So he looks for ways of escape. Hank reassures him that no one will enter the room when the door is closed. He is already beginning to understand that Jesse has suffered trauma and patience and care is needed.

The heat and fever of the chapter was quite intense and demanded much of the reader. The relationship between Hank and Jesse has to be a slow search for understanding and healing.

Unexpected developments. But Nos is loved and receiving help from Luc, Blake and Emon. And even from his father. What can he expect from his mother? -

"Here we are again! Happy as can be! All good pals and jolly good company!" Little Shop of Horrors meets (and I'm full of hope) Wallace and Gromit. Audrey v Wererabbits. And where are Charlie and Co.? Rescuing Matt from the Chocolate Factory no doubt!! I am again late to this story. I've promised myself not to read others' comments until after I've attempted one. Thereby approaching each episode episodically ( predictive text offers up periodically sporadically and several words I don't know the meaning of). But then.... promises are like pie crust.

Test paper No 2. Answer all three questions. Each carries equal points. Q1. Will Gerald be allowed to use his bedazzling gun a. before b. during or c. after the banquet? Q2. Was the root Lucas tripped over a. a close cousin b. a distant relative or c. a cub scout Twiglet, of the tree stump Lucas has argued with previously? NB. Zombies please note. Mobile phones may not be used.

I have gone so far beyond laughter now, just hysterics. Loving all and every character at the Jamboree. Pick out one? Got to be Barty Junior - now a veteran. Pick out one outstanding phrase in summation? " Step forward and embrace the sparkle."

We are about to reach the end of our journey. Vince sorely wounded but hopefully to be healed by Skarg who has returned at the right time. Jack fearful for his friend and guardian but will do what he can to defend him to the end. Theo doing what his trials always intended him for, a final battle with the trees' pack leader. And the Whiteflame pack resurrected to destroy once and for all the evil trees. Goodness and love triumph. -
More interesting developments detectionwise and socially.

Sad that the story is concluded but a wonderful chapter to end it with. -
What a wonderful fantastical experience this has been, binge-reading the last few chapters. Beautifully drawn characters who could all almost be human or supernatural, probably something in between since they've all been touched by magic. I adore Matt. Was he the prototype of Lucas? Now to move on to the next tale and the unresolved situations from this one.
