May 13th, 2011, Greenwich, CT. The months flew by and, in hindsight (which is always 20/20 vision), it was due to us actually communicating, something I hadn't really thought possible. Sometimes, we need to step beyond our preconceptions in certain areas. Greg is a jerk, and will be more of a jerk in the next chapters, but...bear with him. Have you ever known me not to take care of....jerks?

February 11th, 2011, Greenwich, CT The following morning, I woke up far beyond my usual time. Normally I’d get up at 7am, but when I glanced at the alarm, my eyes not yet accustomed to the light that streamed into the room, it showed 09:12am. Yikes! February 10th, 2011, Greenwich, CT This went on for over another week. I cooked, he came in for a plate, gave me hassle about not eating in the dining room and for the rest of the evening, there was peace and quiet. And so the year began. Even though I chose to not continue as a butler, officially accepting the will and its contents via notary, I ended up doing the tasks still. Maybe it was because of automatism. It was what I knew best. It also didn’t help Gregory had run the maid off with his boorish behavior, either. January 12th, 2011, Greenwich, CT We survived the weekend without too much mishap; I mainly avoided Gregory whenever I could; if he noticed it, he didn’t let on. The overall tone was a bit sad, though. An era had come to an end, or so it seemed. Soon I’d have to leave, and that saddened me more than I expected. Mr. Montgomery had been very good to me. Not only financially, but also as a human being. He’d given me a chance when no one else would, and for that, I’d always be thankful.
