    Shepherd's Crook

I have been waiting for this story to be posted in full in order to read it, and as the number of reviews grew I figured it must be a good one! You write very realistic dialogue, K.C., which I admire. So easy to be taken out of the story when the dialogue is stilted. There were a number of surprises in here, definitely an original tale. They kept me turning the pages...or scrolling down in this case. Engaging characters throughout though I would have liked a little more insight into the foundation of Amanda's cruelty and lack of remorse. Pure mental illness or were there other factors? Well done K.C. And I look forward to your next.
  2. Losing a pet is hard, especially when they are suffering and there's no way to know how to help. Sorry it's such a rough road and of course, you're doing the right thing with your daughter even if it makes dealing with your pet's final illness even tougher. I hope you can do some grieving when the time and circumstances are right.

    That was brilliant. Clever fun!

    Bad Day

Very vivid scene. Succinct writing. Brings out the drama and emotional content of a middle-class, every man sort of life.
  5. This is a really beautiful post, Yettie. There's not a word in it I don't agree with.
  6. Heartwarming and sweet snippet of a story.

    Travelling Home

I really enjoyed the whole story. Every chapter was perfect, advancing their relationship just a bit. A true to life depiction of the challenges and joys to falling in love in middle age: careers, past lovers, emotional baggage, but also the advantages of self knowledge and insight to where this all may be headed. A great read from beginning to end. Hope you continue to write and post stories here.
  8. Thanks for sharing the Swiss customs on your national holiday, Bob. Happy Swiss National Day!

    Fathers and Sons

You have a lot on your shoulders right now and you're doing a great job. A commendable job. Very difficult working with someone who doesn't want to go for medical care when they really need to. And, I couldn't agree more about the job nurses do. It's not until you are hanging out in a hospital for hours that you see the scope of what they deal with and under what limitations. My thoughts are with you and with your father.

    Chapter 2: London

You have a good story going here. It's great to find one so well written with realistic older characters. You add a lot of passing detail that gives the story a very real feel, like the observation that a large number of locals in a restaurant is a good indication that they serve a decent meal or the memory of long distance calls being something expensive and special. Those minor references add a lot to the story. I am enjoying Jordan, the protagonist, and find a lot to identify with in him. You write great sex too. Looking forward to reading more.
  11. The breadth of your imagination is awe inspiring, comicfan. I have to admit that this story made me a little sad. I live so far from my family and close friends that if electronic communication was cut off, I'd feel more isolated, not less. I guess it would force me to go out and meet more of my neighbors though. :-)
  12. Great humor throughout this piece. I started to suspect where this was going when he saw the pictures of women on the walls. Good job with the prompt!

    One shot

wow, i could feel the stress of their relationship just from reading about it. tough situation forboth of them, but in the long run they'll be happier. good story!
  15. I enjoyed this a lot. You write very well and believably from the point of view of the celebrity. There is a particular burden with that sort of stardom. Of course there is the public aspect of it all. But stars at that level are an industry as well. It's not just the celebrity's career that can take a hit, but it's all the people working to support the artist in the industry, via their record label, through concerts. Anyway, it's a huge personal decision that can have a widespread effect. You presented a very interesting story.

    Chapter 1

Wow! This is the first story of yours that I've read and I see why you have such a following. Talk about huge choices...for Caleb, for Noah and for Lucia. I like being so deep in a character's head when I read. You did a great job with Caleb. Very well told story.
  17. Fun and clever! So glad you posted this.

    Chapter 1

Brilliant Mark! Such a creative, vivid scene. You paced the suspense just right and the ending had just the right tone. I enjoyed this very much.

    Chapter 1

You provided a fascinating, dark and provocative dialogue in this story. I've often thought if homosexuality was shown to be biological, the science would be treated in the same way that the science of evolution or global warming is treated. In this story, the potential for an emergence of eugenics and blackballing from organizations is only a breath away from the world in which we live today. Very interesting and well told.
  20. Great news KC! That was such a great story and it deserves a broad audience.
  21. A great love story. Two good people who needed each other and deserved the happiness of finding one another.
  22. I have nothing to add execept that any job that involves being on the lookout for new music must be a dream job.
  23. Some of the lines made me catch my breath. Beautiful farewells that you've shared. Glad you posted this.

    Confluent Dichotomy

Troubling. He had so little power in his situation yet he found what he had and used it to help himself. A good read.

Great, great short story. A whole range of emotions, a little magic, a little introspection, a little romance. Loved it.
