I'm making shrimp quesadillas with salad. I baked a fresh peach and blueberry buckle, not diabetic friendly, which will likely serve as dessert.

Mum saw her cardiologist yesterday for a routine 6 month visit. They did a yearly echocardiogram stress test. We knew she had some minor mitral valve leakage and a minor left bundle branch block neither of which have worsened so the doctor is pleased with her health as am I. I'd like to have around for awhile yet.

We're having open-face BLT's on Black Russian bread. It's warm and muggy so something light and not cooked is just right.

I just saw on the local news that a ride at the Cherry Festival in Traverse City almost had a tragic accident as it started wobbling and swaying while in operation but a number of bystanders rushed forward to hold the base down until the operator could safely stop it.

My paternal grandmother had a small green gooseberry bush. Can't recall her ever doing anything with the fruit. Of course the bush was so small I don't think she ever got more than a handful in any season.

I heard the other day that a large portion of the Northwest blueberry crop has cooked on the bushes due to the heat. A total loss. That crop accounts for 80% of the total US supply. Blueberries could become more scarce and expensive.

Those ones you don't know what they are ... they're simply known as "pretty". They're rather common. I'm sure you've encountered them before. Just think back ever hear someone say those are pretty flowers?

While many recipes call for added pectin it really isn't necessary as pectin comes is from the fruit. In my family we use equal amounts of fruit and sugar and cook that until it thickens. Glad to hear yours tastes good.
