  1. Seeing as someone celebrates a birthday next Friday perhaps we'll get a present ... a longer chapter.
  2. Happy Friday to you too. It's cooler today than it's been. Currently 61/16° with high clouds and a breeze.
  3. I'm speculating because he wants to start a branch of Heros Haven it's a fund-raiser and awareness event. With the choice of venue I'm imagining a Habitat for Humanity style event with cadets building tiny houses to be later transported to the permanent site. I'll be interested to see how far off I am in hitting the mark. Oh, how could I have missed mentioning a showing of the documentary and a visit from Brad.
  4. Oh, so that's why Ritch wanted the facility. Impressive. Great chapter but no birthday cake?
  5. Glad you were able to worm your mare. I'm sorry that she seems to be slowly slipping away. The downside of having animal companions is their shorter lives. It always seems we've only gotten to give them half the love we have for them before the time with them is gone. By the way I neglected to pass along greetings from the turtles in the pond to the Turtleman of Canada. I have to think of you each time I see one sunning. Something they be doing here of late.
  6. The naked truth is I had as well ...
  7. Had a lovely day in Charleston. We walked through a different part of the city by visiting the campus of the College of Charleston. They celebrated the 250 anniversary of the college's founding last year. There were scores of adorably young folk out and about. Though I wonder if some of the lads are even old enough to shave. The students seem soo young. One cute fellow was enamored of Thistle and chatted with about for about 5 minutes.
  8. We're making a day trip to Charleston today. It's also National Pecan Day. The pecan is the only major tree nut native to the US.
  9. Did they also say you're only allotted half the amount of time to finish your tasks?
  10. Actually, it goes back to a Kenny Chesney song about his girl thinkin' his tractor was sexy. A few years back Gary mentioned his tractor and I started teasing him about having a sexy tractor.
  11. It's a lovely day here. Bright Carolina sunshine, seasonal temp (74/23°) and comfortable humidity. Shut the ac off and opened doors and windows.
  12. Well there is that garden tractor. Mornin, well afternoon now from sunny SC.
  13. You know what they say about teenage boys and stiff breezes, well a stiff breeze is all the encouragement our Miss Clo needs.
  14. The pup I had before Thistle had a similiar life. Missy lived in an apartment with a family of four+. Mum, dad, two boys under age four and her own mother. She never played with toys. If I bought one and tried to give it to her she got nervous and backed away. My guess is being the roughly the same age as the oldest boy she was taught to leave toys alone. She didn't understand chasing a ball. When they went to the park to play it was her mother that chased the ball and Missy would chase after her mum. She didn't like to cuddle. If I would lay beside her to cuddle she got nervous and moved away. Probably because little kids are not fun to cuddle with. She did enjoy being petted and brushed. It was kind of sad but she was a sweet friendly dog and I had her for over ten years.
  15. So it would seem ... the question is, best at what? Have you got a sexy butcher?
  16. You sound like Miss Clo ... and have the same smug emoji.

The Wrath of Khan was one of the first Betamax tapes I owned. I was a fan of Ricardo Montalban.
  18. He doesn't seem thrilled with the idea it's Monday ... must have been hanging out with @Bucket1.
  19. Sorry ... couldn't but laugh, you seem so downtrodden.

    Chapter 25

Yes, but imagine for a moment what knowing he is about to die on the antlers of not so helpless prey would do to his psyche. It's his own brand of cruelty turned against him. Besides, Cyn can tear him open from the crotch up.

    Chapter 25

I wonder how Eike's sociopathic streak got past Arik ... predators in the wild are efficient not cruel, cruelty is wasted energy. Eike is cruel for cruelty's sake. He kills sentient creatures, forcing them to shift into helpless prey after making them aware that they are about to be eaten.

    Chapter 25

Gored by a whitetail buck ...
  24. It's been a bit over six hours since my first covid jab with nothing out of the ordinary to report. Oh, I got my shot in my arm not in my car.
  25. He lives in Ireland, those people were solid color kilts.
