  1. I have the great good fortune to have grown up in South Central PA, Lancaster County to be specific, home to the oldest and largest contingent of Amish and Old Order Mennonite in the US. To this day it is not unusal for me to see teams of five or six horses abreast at work ploughing the fields in Spring or again in Autumn harvesting. The largest team I remember was a team of eight, in two rows of four abreast. I don't recall ever seeing a driver need to go to the front of the team to direct them. When I was a young lad my paternal grandfather grew tobacco. The tobbaco planter was horse drawn by a team of two belonging to a neighboring Amishman. I often held a pail of cool water up for each horse to drink while the water tank on the planter was refilled. When my father was a boy my grandfather farmed with horses.

  3. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  4. I have a shirt like that ... unfortunately, the effect isn't quite the same when I let mine hang unbuttoned.

  7. Your intent was very well served.
  8. I think you mean immortal ...
  9. Dammit, ya made me cry ... there's so much I like about this chapter that putting it into comment would be like writing the CliffNote so I'll just say ... very well done sir.
  10. Bet the herd enjoyed your teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini ...
  11. High temp today was 75/24° then the sea breeze started and the temp dropped to the current 70/21°. Only drawback is an increase in the dewpoint to a sensible humidity level.
  12. Whew, glad you ending by mentioning the sexy tractor, I thought you were prepping yourself to play late season ice hockey.

    Chapter 44

This closing chapter ends the story with the same grace, ease and joy that Sawyer's latest shift does his fears of forever being feral. You've spun out a tale with all the classic brutality inherent in the werewolf trope and yet filled it with a sense of something more ... we see the horror of being trapped in between, whether as a feral caught between human and wolf or a person caught between the life before and current existence. Jimmy and Sawyer were both on a path of change, both seeking fulfillment. Both endure contact with a lunatic, strange that a word first coined to mean being driven insane by effect of the moon would fit a deranged lycan. Fergus seemed such a large part of the story and yet ultimately served only as catalyst for what Jimmy and Sawyer become. With them we pass through the crucible searing away the dross and emerge with a purer sense of self. If more story were eventually to follow it would be welcome, if not you've left us at a good place knowing Jimmy and Sawyer are prepared and ready for life, bound to each other and to pack. Thank you.
  14. Probably just doing a little manscaping in preparation for Hump Day.
  15. G'day y'all. We're going through a brief period of warmer than normal weather. Yesterday the temp reached 82/28°, that's 15° above average. Today is forecast to reach 79/26°. Fortunately it is not humid but the sun is very strong. It becomes too hot to work outdoors for any length of time.
  16. Oh, frozen rain ...
  17. Thanks sis. I like the plaid too.
  18. You go grocery shopping when your feet get cold? Just what are you buying?
  19. Uhm meat is not a vegetable even if it has turned green. Aren't the potatoes overcooked if you bake, sauté and boil them?
  20. All that pale skin must have been blinding. While still not dawn it bodes to be another lovely day here. It's currently 58/14° and clear with a bright cresent moon and stars. Forecast is for upper 70's/25°. The plan is to continue mulching after going out for brekkie and a quick trip to the greenhouse for replacements for the frost kill.
  21. It's a lovely spring day here. At 2pm it's 71/21°with bright Carolina sunshine. Mum and I spent the morning spreading mulch in the flower beds. About a third of the way to finished. We're doing it in "fits and starts" as my head will not tolerate a full day of it and mum's as near to 86 as she is her 85th birthday. Last week I had mulched a large shared bed between mum and a neighbor. I would do all of the mulching but mum likes doing some and it gets her out in the fresh air and sunshine.
  22. Back home in PA there are folks who decorate trees with eggs though I don't remember any using so many eggs.
  23. Yes, and she's hidden yours all around her garden.
  24. Did you forget the first posting while trying to remember where you'd hidden the chocolate?
