  1. Stay safe B. You have our best wishes and prayers.
  2. I am, thanks. Today I didn't take anything for pain. It was rough but the meds were really causing problems in my stomach so it was necessary and I survived. The bruising is starting to come to the surface, such pretty colors too.
  3. Well, mum and I are off to join some friends for lunch.
  4. Greetings Albert. You and Steve doing okay?
  5. G'day y'all.
  6. We are, thanks.
  7. Thanks Tim.

There are other folks out there ... a couple of guys acting as caretakers of a very nice beach house. Spin-off of a spin-off.
  9. G'day y'all.
  10. You and your chicken ate Brussels sprouts? When did you get a chicken? What do the rest of your menagerie feel about this development?
  11. I was an adult the first time I had them and abhorred them, now. Evolving tastes I suppose.
  12. I thought of that but there were no chairs involved in my mishap.
  13. Other than being very tired and a bit stressed mum is okay. Thistle is just glad to be back at his Nan's after a rather hectic week. Me, I ache. The ribs are sore and make bending and getting up and down from both sitting and laying an exercise. The shoulder though is the problem. If I keep it stable it's not too bad but try to raise my arm or move it laterally and it hurts. Aleve helped during the night last night and during the day today but at a cost. It aggravates my stomach and is hard on my kidneys. Add minor dehydration from travelling and I need to take a break from the nsaids. Tonight I took one of the muscle relaxants the er doc prescribed hoping it we will help me sleep.
  14. We made the rest of the trip back to SC safely
  15. Yeah, we were very fortunate. The car sacrificed itself to protect us. The firemen were wonderful. Mum gave the one who ran her around a big hug before he left us. I'm going try and find them so I can send them a thank you.
  16. I made a really good shrimp pizza last winter. Basically lightly cooked shrimp in a scampi type sauce spread over fresh pizza dough with italian cheese blend scattered over top. Baked it in a hot castiron skillet at 450° until the crust was baked and the cheese was bubbly. About 10 minutes.
  17. I would make it myself with instant expresso and cocoa powder adding other things based on taste. Curious to see how Val did it.
  18. Sometimes life happens in a big way ... we were in an accident on I-495 at noon today and my car was totaled. The good news is that we all walked away. Mum had a cut on her elbow that didn't require treatment and Thistle is fine. Me, I got an ambulance ride and a 3+ hour visit at the Fairfax Hospital ER. My side of the car slammed into the concrete barrier wall. Fortunately the side airbags deployed and protected my head and neck. No broken bones but the ribs on my left side are bruised. I've got contusions from my seatbelt and my left shoulder may have tendon and/or rotator cuff damage, x-rays don't show that. I'll likely be making a visit to an orthopedist in SC. The best part is that while I was on my way to the ER mum and Thistle were taken to the nearby fire station where they were well looked after. Mum had coffee and once he relaxed Thistle explored until his heart's content. The guys went online to help mum find a rental car. The local rental places were closed so the nearest available was AVIS at Reagan International Airport. One of the guys took them there to pick up the car then led mum to the hospital to meet me. When mum was having trouble with the lady at my insurance agency he took the phone from mum and got things sorted. They were so kind and helpful. We collected our personal things from my car. It was taken to a nearby salvage yard until my insurance arranges to pick it up. After a five hour delay we continued south and are currently lodged in the motel where we had made reservations. While I'm very sore and shaken things might have been far worse. Now I just need to find a comfortable position for sleeping.

Serendipity is a wonderful thing ... I'm really liking this story.
  21. Looks very tasty.
  22. You've usually passed out first 🧀 ( I know, I know it's Swiss but there doesn't seem to be any other cheesemojis).
  23. G'day y'all. Both Mum and I, Thistle too are a bit worn out as a result of our hectic visit so we decided to extend our stay here in my home area a day. Gives us a chance to relax a bit and while the weather becomes chiller overnight it is forecast to clear as well. That would make travelling a bit more pleasant. We enjoyed a very nice dinner with my youngins last evening.
