G'day y'all. We've been up since 3:30 to take mum's friend to the airport. Her granddaughter graduates in a couple of days and she flew up for that and a family visit. Since we were up and it's a beautiful morning we took Thistle to the state park to walk on the beach at sunrise. It was his first time and he really enjoyed it even when a small wave surprised him and he got his belly wet. He did a lot of "talking" to the ocean. We walked for about an hour. On the way home we stopped for some brekkie. Seems much later than 9am.
I nearly cried when Seth told of the young man burned by hot oil. As a very young boy I was scalded across my upper chest by hot coffee. When the t-shirt I was wearing came off so did the top layers of skin. Fortunately the burns were only second degree so I didn't need grafts. The scarring was minimal, basically just an area with lighter skin tone and with time became unnoticeable. Being scalded hurts, being burned by hot oil is agonizing. It might seem callous but one of my first thoughts was thank God it was his legs not his face. He could have been disfigured and blinded. I liked the rest of the chapter too I just fixated on the poor kid.
Lex is quickly gaining an incredible family.
Uhm, tell 'im I've still got his shoes. I found them under the bed. Oh, and that shirt he's tying is mine. Thistle was sleeping on his.
And yes, his eyes are blue.
G'day y'all. Yesterday's storms have passed and the day dawned bright and sunny. Still a bit humid but that should improve when a cold front passes through later in the day.
Took mum and a friend of hers out to dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. Mum's friend is widowed and her children live in WV so she would have been alone.
It's hot and muggy. We had one t-storm around 8:30 this morning. Rain lasted about an hour. I can hear it rumbling again in the distance. More storms in the forecast for later today.
So dinner tonight is gonna be Maryland-style crab cakes, oven roasted asparagus and steamed new potatoes.
1 lb lump crabmeat, dried chives, dried parsley, dried shallots, lime sea salt, white pepper and just enough mayo to hold everything together = 4, 4 oz crab cakes.
