I didn't know Carlos as well as others on the site, but you could tell he loved GA by how involved he was in the community. It will be a very different place without him. RIP.

On Friday, I had Take Me Home, Country Roads stuck in my head for hours. Hours. I don't mind the song, but I kinda don't want to hear it again for a while now.

Interestingly, I am now reading a series that deviates from a single character perspective for the first three books into multi character perspective for this one and...I kinda dig it. It limits the number of perspective characters to four and each character has one long chapter or several shorter chapters and there is a promise to bring them all together at some point. I think it was a smart choice. If they had stuck with the one character perspective I might not have wanted to continue. I have also read books with chapters only lasting a few pages and perspective jumping into everyone and their grandma (no...seriously....there was a chapter from grandma's perspective) and I didn't get very far before tossing it aside. It was a bestseller too! I think recognizing what does and doesn't work is a sign of growth as a writer.
