# 117 The Smell of the Snow
comicfan commented on Dolores Esteban's story chapter in # 117 The Smell of the Snow
Wow. First time I felt like one of your pieces really wasn't finished. I wanted to know so much more about this world. You did a wonderful job of making it creepy and you sensed the cold that surrounded this group of robbers. You also got the idea there was no longer a sense of right or wrong, just one of survival. Afraid of what a hard winter would do to these already hardened men. -
Well I put in for the time off. Just waiting to see if it was accepted. As far as I'm concerned it better be.

No one may be there but know people care. Hang in there KC. Life goes on. I know I feel like I've been on a merry go round with a really long down stroke but eventually it has to go up for everyone. Trust me, I still have moments after three years where I go to do things and think "Maybe I should pick up a coffee for Mom" or "Maybe Mom would like Chinese tonight." Worse is moments when you sit there watching a favorite movie and want to call her up and you realize for a moment, my god she is gone. At first the pain was all there was but as time goes on I find myself shaking my head and remembering things she would say to me instead. Now instead of the rip your soul apart it is more of bittersweet moment. Never easy but it gets better.

And it all came down to a rock... or to quote Charlie Brown "I got a rock!"
comicfan posted a blog entry in Wayne's Updates
Alright, the fact of my life is I have no luck. No, strike that, if I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck. I've been silent about any sort of hopes or desires because, well, if I mention them then there is a good chance something can go wrong. Yesterday is a prime example. I got my tax money back. Not a fortune, nothing that you say is mad money. I have plans for nearly every dime of it. In fact a large part of it is suppose to be sent in June, for this little thing coming up I started call the East Coast get together. *sigh* However on my way to work yesterday all of a sudden the inside of the car got hot, and smelled hot. Then I seen the engine gauge go right to the top. I pulled right over. Lucky me, I got a tow directly to the local repair shop near where I work. The end result being, somehow, in a million to one shot, I hit a rock which bounced up and punctured my radiator. Yes they found the rock still there. The bill to remove and replace the radiator literally ate my NY state tax return in one visit. Gone. Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars, nothing. Oh well back to refigure the finances. Why can't something go right just once? Was I that bad a person in my youth or am I just paying for something I screwed up majorly in a former life? Sometimes I simply wonder. -
Alright, I think part of my problem lately is simply sleep. I ain't getting much. Makes it hard to get things done when you are tired and cranky. Doesn't help that my job has had my work schedule all over the damn place. Add to it someone I was talking to steady has gone missing and my life feels a bit up in the air. However this too shall pass. hope everyone else is okay.

Good Witch Vs. "Evil" Witch (The Lies of the Wizard of Oz)
comicfan replied to John Doe's topic in The Lounge
Wow. The layers people put over a story. And the retelling is ehh. The musical Wicked barely stuck to the book and made it much better than it was, and this coming from an English major where the books are usually sacrosanct. It felt like it took forever to get through the first book but he has gone on to do Son of Witch and The Cowardly Lion. -
Yes tomorrow evening is the anniversary of the Titanic hitting the iceburg. She will sink on the fifteenth. What a way to make a memory.
-
Okay, you felt you strayed from the topic. I create the prompts as a spring board, a way to make you look at a given situation and then turn it on its ear. So, where do you think you went astray? I found it logical. He fought for the right for gays to marry, but the idea still scares the hell out of him, even though a part of him wants it too. I thought you did a great job with it.
-
People do things they aren't proud of. Glad to see your characters come clean before permenately entering into a marriage. It would be horrible to marry someone and then find out that everything has been a lie. He was man enough to finally tell him, (major points taken for doing it right before the wedding) but at least he gave his partner the opportunity to change his mind if this was too much to accept. Nicely done.

Welcome to real life. It is messy, beyond our control, and sometimes you just have to do the best you can, and that might just mean hanging on by your fingernails and saying a little prayer. Dad is recovering nicely from his skin cancer surgery. They believe they got it all but he will continue to be monitored and checked out. My sister-in-law has begun her treatment for her throat cancer. Me, I've decided to put myself on the front burner for a change. I had let Weight Watchers pretty much fall to the weigh side, while I dealt with everything else going on. The weight in the meantime has gone up and down the same 6 pounds for about three months now. Tired of that. If I want to get my required 15 pounds off by June I need to recommit and do it now. I finally just stopped listening to what everyone else wanted and started my own list. I have almost completely caught up on the work other authors have been waiting on. Some were just a few hours old, but some were nearly two weeks old. For those reading their works or waiting for something new, I'm sorry, it was truly my fault. Finally I have two things in the works right now. One is the next chapter of Jonas. Yes, I realize this is now week three without something new. Sorry, my life outside of here took over. The other is my retelling of The Pink which I will be publishing on the sister site. So that is about all right now. I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter, Passover, or whatever you may celebrate. Just remember, you might feel you are nothing in this world, but to someone else, you might be their world. Take time to relax and smile, smell the flowers, enjoy the sunlight, and live your life. Till I can get something published, bye for now.

Can someone explain to me how to do a poll in a blog?
comicfan commented on Enoch's blog entry in Billy Martin's Blog
I've never done one on a blog so not sure Billy. Grab a hold of Lugh, Cia, or one of the other mods and ask them. Sure they will be glad to help you. -
Sorry Billy. My story sort of has been on stand by with everything happening in my own life. I'm just lucky I'm not keeping my writers waiting forever for their beta projects.

Thank you Sam. I try to change things up and keep people guessing what I am going to come out with next.

I sit before the shattered mirror and see the images it casts. Distorted and clear all at once before me sit other images of me. Through the cracks of glass I see a youthful me, an older me, and yet just who I am. Images reflected back of days so long now gone are there Happy, youthful, plays the mask that hides the pain beneath A time of promise squandered by one who knew it not, but who gives a damn. A spring of growing pains, scraped knees, kites flown, and bicycles. Summers of h

Sometimes life offers you the chance to see it all, but you might not like what you find.

Please, instead of peeps I'd rather have Kinder eggs but they are illegal in the US. Considered a choking hazard for children. Geez. I liked the toys inside when people sent them to me from Germany. lol
-
Lacey, if anyone paid attention in chat or your posts elsewhere they would know the truth. You don't hide as well as you think but no one is going to force you to talk about anything. Just know if you need a shoulder there is always one available. Mark - Why am I afraid to ask about greasing up a chicken's bottom? Boy those eggs must just shoot out. lol.

Yup, us American's are driving the rest of the world nuts with comments on this confectionery treat that will absolutely rot your teeth. After one person commented on them our poor friends from around the world just keep asking, What is a Peep? I don't advocate them but if you want to know what they are here is their website. http://www.peepsandcompany.com/sweet-treats?gclid=COCxy5W_pa8CFcJM4AoduwvEYA

Dolores you always take this prompts in new and interesting directions. The elves and their nightly hunts are well known by me. This wasn't something I had expected to see approached, much less by poetry. You did a wonderful job with it, as you always do.

Prompt 124 - Meeting the Myth
comicfan commented on comicfan's story chapter in Prompt 124 - Meeting the Myth
Well more than one prompt has been made into a full story. Just need time to do it. However that is the fun of the prompt, just seeing if you can do it to begin with. -
Sounds like the farm is back to life there Mark. I see you are keeping up with all the animals in your woods. Joe - Prompt 118 was Myths and Legends. Naturally I would know which is which, I create the damn things. As for the beta projects well still playing catch up but nearly done.

Good Witch Vs. "Evil" Witch (The Lies of the Wizard of Oz)
comicfan replied to John Doe's topic in The Lounge
Well the stories Baum wrote, which were 13 in total, had other villains as well. Nome who was the Gnome KIng, Mombi the Witch - she was used in both a cartoon version where Liza Minnelli took on her mother's role as Dorothy and Ethel Merman played Mombi, and again in Disney's Return to Oz where Mombi had many beautiful heads but was mainly played by Jean Marsh and Dorothy Gale is this time played by Fairuza Balk. Baum was constantly introducing new characters, good and bad. Just that when things came to the movies alterations would occur. Dorothy's silver slippers became ruby slippers, the short little witch with the silver crown who could call on the flying monkeys three times became tall, green and memorable. There are new Oz books still being written. A few years ago the whole series was re-imagined as Tin Man, and later this year this one hundred twelve year old story gets another going over as Dorothy and the Witches of Oz comes out as a mini series. Just another case of everything old is new again. Well that and a good story never fades from the public eye. -
Glad you are back Joe. Missed you.
