  1. Actually I am about two months ahead in writing them cause they need them for the blog. lol. And I have to make sure not repeat myself. Not always easy but I enjoy the challenge.
  2. Loved it Russ
  3. I agree with KC. i will leave a review that points out strengths. Cassie stated some of those reviews were from her beta. In private I have no problem taking any form of criticism, however I will lose respect when it is viscous and not backed up. If the character didn't ring true give me an example. I have a degree and can understand a problem in my writing. Just don't try to impress me with your book learning and try to talk down to me. (Trust me it has happened.)
  4. What was that proposal?
  5. Codgr Carl opened Debbie's great recipes. soups
  6. Albany. (NY, USA)
  7. Thank you for everything KC. You inspired me to write one and you helped me out by being my beta for it as well. I know what you mean by those afterschool specials. I didn't have that in mind when I wrote it but the analogy works.
  8. Well Ceara wanted justice. Considering the woman is named Fiery of the Fire, you know she has something of a temper. Erik really didn't know who he was screwing with and things could have gone so much worse for him. Glad you enjoyed it Avid.
  9. You never know what might bubble up out my head and become a story Jo Ann. Just figured after reading KC's Halloween Fairy Tale I should do a story but go at it differently. For a little story there are a lot of real things in it. Thanks for reading and commenting as usual. Truly makes it worth it to know people enjoy my tales.
  10. Well you basically do know he only has three options for Erik. It will be up to him how successful he will be and whether he will find the happiness he could have. Thanks for reading and commenting though. Nice to know you enjoyed it.
  11. I loved Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, Garfield, and The Wizard of Id.
  12. I've never missed work due to a story but I have pulled all nighters. I have had people read one story of mine and told me they read the whole thing at one sitting and missed various things. I don't know whether to feel happy or really guilty. I guess we all do it though.
  13. We love readers and people who comment. If you are a writer as well, welcome. Check out the writing area for tips on how to write and when the time comes don't be afraid to advertise for a beta and an editor. A beta will help point out where you need to expand and things to improve your writing. The editor helps focus it and correct all those grammatical and punctuation errors. Have fun.
  14. Hi Danny. Yeah there are a few Scots running around on here. (We love a good kilt and strong wind here, lol) Don't mind most of us. We just enjoy a good time.
  15. Happy Birthday Maria. Wishing you all the best.
  16. Well my new story is finally up. I can't thank Renee and KC enough for what they did to help me get this readable. So when you finish reading my story go read and comment on theirs.
  17. I read KC Grim's story and it inspired me to do a Halloween tale of my own. I hope you enjoy.
  18. Ceara McTeine walked slowly up the walkway to find the pumpkins by her gate had been smashed. She had spent several hours carving images of Sponge Bob, Ben Ten, Snoopy, and even The Simpsons for Halloween eve. With how cool it was outside she felt it was safe to put them out a few days early. She had etched the images into the pumpkins, carving and scooping till she could light the candles inside them and make them glow perfectly. She had hoped to win over the children in the neighborhood with t
  19. Hi All, I know it has been a while but I figured I would update things a bit. I am really having some ups and downs but trying to keep it going. I prefer to focus on the good. I am up to five Halloween cards this year. One of them was a postcard for the Day of the Dead. That was a first for me so really made me smile. Plus one of the people who sent to me mentioned they didn't know Halloween cards existed. They should just wait. Any of my usual's know I send out cards for all occasions. Granted I have missed one person's this year. (Don't ask I feel like an idiot already) However, I do try to keep them all straight and get them out. My brother finally went to find out about the pain in his back. Whatever it is, it has to be better than the constant pain he has been in, so I consider that an improvement. Dad's results came in. The blood loss was from tears in the lower stomach and upper intestine. So far all results show it healing and his body recovering. The surgery that was done on his leg is also healing well and his doctor is pleased with how it is closing and how he is handling it. I have had friends dealing with various issues. I am always willing to lend support and an ear. I can't always fix things.though God knows I wouldn't mind being able to do so, but I am only human. I just wish so many people would stop saying they don't want to tell me cause they know I have a lot on my plate. For any reading this, let me make this clear. If I can't take a few minutes to put whatever small issues I am dealing with aside to listen to you, then I really shouldn't be friends with you. Sorry, there are always going to be times when things go wrong, but the fact is a friend will always make time for you. Sorry, I'm human like everyone else, but I sure as hell ain't made of glass and going to fall apart at a moments notice. I hope to hell I am made of sterner stuff than that. So, the Halloween Story is still in revision after I got it back. I wanted to make sure I fleshed out what my beta pointed out to me so it makes sense. My editor went over and passed a few more comments so still finishing it up a bit. Working on the winter anthology story now and Jonas. (Sometimes i wish I just killed him off. The boy doesn't want to work with me, but I am determined to finish him off next week and write the five chapters straight through.) Wish me luck. Wayne
  20. Oh lord. Some of the ones listed have been used everywhere including up here in New York. This is common too ... But then we have a bunch of things common or not from around here ... A smear - a light coating, usually of cream cheese on a bagel. You need your hip boots - someone is really spreading the bull crap. They're lumps and bumps - someone was in a fight They're waiting for air - lip locked again raining cats and dogs - flooding rains Hit with the ugly stick - not attractive Hit the whole tree - really not attractive - if they are really nasty "They started at the top and hit every branch on the way down on the ugly tree" Angel Boy/ Girl - Goody two shoes Devil's mate - Trouble maker or worse 3 sheets to the wind - drunk off your tush Tush - butt kiddo - term of endearment for anyone close to you. Snowball's chance - means snowball's chance in hell so no chance at all. golden one - lucky one schmuck - stupid fool Oh lord I could easily keep going.
  21. I was a huge DC fan. I started collecting in the 80s. I have every one of the big books from DC when they were relaunching most of their titles. My Flash wasn't Barry Allen but his nephew Wally West. My Wonder Woman was reimagined by George Perez. I read the Titans, JLA, JSA, JLI, Birds of Prey, and so many others. I read Marvel as well but then Marvel began having stories that ran through every book they had. I dropped it in favor of DC. Then about a year or so later DC did the same thing. Last year DC rebooted again. I hate the characters I'd loved for 20 years with their new stories, weird reboots and all. It was like taking the worst aspects of everything and going for it. Want to read a great series. Buy the Trade Paperbacks of The Sandman. There was a great story.
  22. When I am writing a anything other than a short story I do another version of Cia's idea. I simply start doing character sheets. Who are they? Friends? Job? Hobby? Important Events? What is their ultimate goal in life? Are they the kind who rarely has a problem or is their life one continuing problem? Then don't be afraid to find yourself a beta. A good one will point out areas to improve, expand and make suggestions to you. I'm late to this party and KC, Cia, James, and the rest have already given you some great suggestions.
  23. Shows what happens when you get busy and don't even notice you were featured for your prompt story. Thank you.
