(Apologies for being impatient, but I wanted to get this going. If this gets taken down, then...whatever, I guess. ) So, with the Soapbox set to close, and Myr's pronouncement that news items should go in blogs: I'm essentially picking up the discussion where it was left off yesterday, and doing it here. I had originally posted the article, followed by a link to its source (from Yahoo), but at that time the article was brief. It's since been updated to be much longer, so I'm not going to include the entire thing here. Here's the source. Lifting directly from the soon-to-be-former thread, these were the responses that came in during that brief time: Bill W: Benji: W_L: Me: W_L: They usually have transcripts out during hearings and you can analyze what the judges say to see what they might be thinking. That's how I got the hint that Roberts agreed with the Obama Administration over Health Care Reform and role of Federal Government. And...there we go. Let's try and keep things civil, OK?

Except he's not really interacting in the "closed social environment" now, anyway. Yeah, he's on his way out of HW, but there's really no evidence to show that he'll want to talk to people at Menlo, either. The significance of Menlo as it stands right now seems to be one that's less that it's Menlo and more that it's "anywhere but HW". With his constant forays into the adult world - being emancipated, constantly hooking up with 18-and-overs, and now the upcoming legal battle over Jeanine's care - dealing with high school really seems like nothing more than "kid stuff" as opposed to actually being important for the sake of his education and such. With the way he is now, having to deal with a "closed" HS social environment comes off as purely a step backward.

Isn't this obvious?? Honestly, I wonder what the point was by not having him identify himself somehow. That said, I wasn't thrilled by Will even going to that party. It's one more thing that points to the question of, "does Will even need a school setting at this point?" since he can basically go and socialize with whomever he wants now, willy-nilly (no pun intended). Having to be in a high school environment for education is starting to seem more and more like something holding him back at this point more than it is anything else - and I'm very hard-pressed to believe that that would be a good thing.

Happy birthday.

Rigid social "orders" simply did not exist in my neck of the woods. If they had, then I would not have been able to do things like hanging out with juniors and seniors during lunch hour while a freshman or sophomore. (That said, lunch was also not completely confined to a cafeteria at my high school, either.) Note that I say rigid orders though, because while people obviously had their friends that they were closer to and friends that were not-so-close, things like cross-class socialization were not exactly social blasphemy. And for what it's worth, correct me if I'm wrong but Jeremy (methodwriter, not JJ) has the exact same HS timeframe as Will. I, being class of 2003, would be just one year ahead.

If I were Uzzi'el, I would execute Gabri'el right there, right where they stand. In front of everyone.

His interactions with Ryan and Alistair I would call more isolated interactions with them specifically, thus being a different animal of sorts. The rafting trip...yes. A lot has changed since then. Maybe a better way to put it would be, if he does start at Menlo and ultimately, virtually no one likes him that much...so what? Life goes on. Maybe back around the time of the rafting trip it would have mattered more, but now? Seems like not so much.

Who aren't even cute at all if they have attitudes anything like their captain...

With even the kind of money they have, Will doesn't even need a school setting to get his high school education, to be totally honest. While Brad's MO might have been to be the Social King, Will's MO seems to be all about being completely above the entire social scene. So...why even bother to get anywhere near it? It'd just be one more thing he won't want to deal with. What probably concerns me most about Robbie's absolute "line in the sand" sort of stance is that he seems completely willing to fight for the position he's taken, even if it costs him everything else, and even if it kills him. Were that to happen, he'd probably take JJ down with him.
-
Honestly...is there any one school out there that Will will be willing to put up with? (Will will be willing...try saying that five times fast! ) Between basically wishing he was already out of HW, and the new world of essentially the same sorts of drama waiting for him at Menlo...is the hotbed of "teen drama" that is high school even right for him?

Sheesh...when you put it that way, you make it seem like this could become a Neverending Story. Sorry Mark, but I for one will start howling in protest if it ever looks like that is going to happen here. At the very least...you started out with a premise that had a fatherly backdrop, and now - now it's just a few small steps away from being little more than the daily (mis?)adventures of the Crampton/Schluter and Danfield clans. "Like sands through the hourglass...so are the Days of Our Lives..."

It's not January quite yet. The "Menlo party" as you put it was just one thing, there's still a whole month's time for an even bigger trainwreck as far as that's concerned.

Hmmm. Well it appears that Elizabeth tried to step up the power game, yet it stopped short of being full-out personal. It's once she crosses THAT final threshold that no fate will be suitable enough for her, short of outright DEATH. The question is...will she strike back once again, and take it that far? When did Wade get so condescending? As to Wade and Gathan hooking up...frankly, that was a disappointment. It came off very much like, "oh, let's just have Gathan fuck him." Umm, whatever... I doubt it. With Will's battles with Brad now over with, and Wade's battles with Elizabeth now seemingly all-but over with, I'd have to think this story should be wrapping up pretty soon here. There's still the Jeanine issue to deal with, but I doubt very much that that alone would take this all the way to 100. Something totally new would have to come up...and really, at this point, anything totally new would be better served in the next story.
-
In a way, I actually have to agree with him, only because if Wade and Elizabeth are now basically "at war", that means now it can get personal, despite it being said some time ago that Elizabeth's schemes are about the money, not about personal scores to settle.

Happy birthday, Louis!
-
I'm not convinced she won't lose her life in the end!
-
Assuming she's even still around to do anything with any kind of money by the time this is all over...
-
Wouldn't that make all her elaborate scheming over money pointless, then, if she could just swoop in and snag his money whenever she felt like it? Solely from a logical standpoint (I know nothing about trust law), it would seem that she would not be able to just do that, otherwise that would defeat the purpose of so much of these recent events.
-
Unless the sheer thrill of victory - and every cent that lines it - is the prize she's looking for? All things considered, I don't see how this can end any other way than with Elizabeth flat out dead.
-
From the chapter: Yes, because Wade would really have to worry about his grandmother yanking money away from the grandson who had her rescued...

5. I have both of those movies on VHS. 8. We'll never see them again? Totally not true. 10. OMG. Third grade... XD 17. OMG. Multiple grades... XD 18. God, I loved screwing around with the settings on that one. 19. When the hell did they stop making them in fruit shapes? 23. Don't they still make Fruitopia? 25. That's debatable... 28. Again, totally not true. The first one, at least... 32. LOL! I don't know about that... 35. Ouch. Way to end this with a kick in the balls, guys.

GA Blogs This would be a much better medium for posts like these.

Given that the Giants lost anyway, it's really a moot point in the grand scheme of things, don't you think?
-
I'll just comment on the game I saw parts of today, that being Steelers-Giants. It seemed pretty apparent to me that the refs handed the Giants that second TD that put them up 13-7, unless the announcers didn't know what the hell they were talking about when they said it clearly looked like something that should be ruled incomplete (instead of a fumble). Then later on, when the Steelers had a 4th and 1 near the goal line and they pull a fake FG...and fail at it! Who calls for a fake FG and then fails at doing it?? All that, and the Giants still manage to lose, 24-20.
