Just out of curiousity...does anyone feel like talking about the NFL too, or should we keep this the college topic?
-
So you're saying you will take that plunge then?
-
Woo-hoo!!!
-
Having at least some awareness of how you appear to others is fine, but I would agree that he's probably going overboard with it. I'd say it'd be worth asking him why he feels he needs to take it to the level that he is.

This is particularly true for Jeff, even though...it was what, only the few times that they've even hooked up? Whereas, with Tony, it's somewhat easier to be discreet anyway seeing as he's in college and Will's in high school, and each has the different day-to-day to deal with. But seeing as you bring it up, it seems like that's where the stronger feelings for each other might come into play there, though.

Thoughts: I'm getting a vibe that Ella seems to have traded the idea of having a loving boyfriend in for being the resident Social Queen, basically caring about nothing else. Her anger with Will over the fight is basically because the fight is a black mark on that status. Guilt over getting touchy-feely with Carter? It's not yet been established that she even feels any. From the chapter: I don't totally get him either, honestly. It's like he has some kind of "DON'T YOU TELL ME HOW I SHOULD ACT, HOW I SHOULD FEEL!!!!" complex going (it might make more sense if you imagine someone saying that in an uber-nasally voice, lol) when it comes to anything Will. It's like he's bent to oppose Will, consequences be damned. Is that something that's reversible? I'm not convinced that it is. Will and Tony get closer and closer, every time they hook up. I get the feeling that they'd be true boyfriends by now if they were able to be. From the chapter: This, ah...sentence, reads sort of like word vomit. Sharon...? I get the feeling that things are just going to keep deteriorating between Will and JJ until they end up having a full-on fight. I mean the kind where each other's goal will be to hurt the other as badly as possible. It may be Will who ultimately starts the brawl, but this just doesn't seem like something where even the most vicious argument would be enough for a climax. Lastly, it seems pointedly clear that Will's story wasn't even that close to over just yet, not as long as Jeanine is around. Probably the only way to finish it is to just give her the final Exit, Stage Left - no matter how long it takes. Sorry, but she's just completely beyond repair.

These next two games will be key, Game 3 especially. If San Fran were to win Game 3 in Detroit, then I'd say the Tigers are all but cooked. If they win Game 2...it doesn't look good for Detroit, but they'd have another shot to win in San Fran by winning all three at home. Detroit is the team that has yet to lose at home this post-season...though one should keep San Fran's NLDS in mind, where neither they nor Cincy won a single game at home.

That would be me, and honestly, it was probably in large part due to the exact way that day played out for me, with school eventually picking back up and continuing on (after like a couple of hours or so), and even having a student council meeting (already scheduled for that day anyway) later on that day. Do I dispute that it was a life-changing event for people? Hell no! But for me, it Just. Did. Not. Happen. That Way. And nothing you or anyone else could say will change that. Anything that would have "changed" as far as how I live, or things I could do (like say, having to deal with airport security), would have involved things that I as a then-almost-16-year-old (only three weeks later) would not have had access to until much later anyway, or things that I just hadn't yet encountered anyway. (Again, like airport security - though in this case it's because the first time I ever flew on a plane was three years ago.) I guess if nothing else, the point I'm trying to get across is that it affected me a lot less than many other people. But really...so be it, I guess.

I have to wonder if some of us have forgotten that the whole "Elizabeth Danfield's latest plot" storyline is still on-going, and Thanksgiving is coming up - i.e. those clamoring for a POV switch to Wade are wasting too much effort in doing so , because it's going to happen anyway.

Perhaps another sign that maybe Menlo isn't meant to be where he ends up after all. From the chapter (the key parts in BOLD): Will doesn't strike me as someone who will dress well just to fit in on a regular basis...
-
Well, well...is this a way of showing that Will just wouldn't fit in up at Menlo? I mean, really...why would he even want to fit in in a group of total stuck-ups who act like their shit don't stink? Total at Darius's, erm...advice, for Will to stay confident. But totally hilarious that it backfired into...ah...another hook-up! But speaking of hook-ups: With an anticipated switch back to Wade coming soon...well...both he and Matt have hooked up with Carullo at some point. No reason they both can't now...if you know what I'm sayin'.

What is your favorite gender-neutral song about love or relationships?
MJ85 replied to A.J.'s topic in The Lounge
Savage Garden's album Affirmation (with the sole exception of "Two Beds and a Coffee Machine"), is completely gender-neutral. -
Yeah..."closer" is definitely a loose term when it comes to Valverde. Game 2 will probably tell the story better, but I imagine that going on without Jeter, and having to make it through three in Detroit later on this week is definitely gonna be a tall order. Hehehehe...

Happy birthday to a fellow Gay Libra!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! I unfortunately didn't have enough "likes" for everyone...I'll get some to the rest of you tomorrow. Unfortunately - for some people - I'm very good about not having my debauchery up for the public viewing.

Interview Tip Thursday: Trevor Project Day And It Gets Better
MJ85 commented on Trebs's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Ahhh...no. -
You forgot one little thing: The part about leaving a nice smoldering crater (metaphorically speaking) where your (soon-to-be-ex?) manager used to be, once she returns from holiday.
-
The thing is, it doesn't matter how many "bad" calls are made in a game, or even how "bad" those calls may be. Some ref calls can be reversed on review, but for the ones where this doesn't happen...there's this little doctrine: All referees' decisions are final. Seriously, who can cite even one time where the NFL has reversed a referee's decision or even overturned a game decision, after the game ended? (Not including instances that involve stripping a team of victories because that team's getting penalized by the NFL.) I am not defending any referee's game decisions at all. But what I am saying is, complaining about bad decisions, is going to accomplish NOTHING. Not a God Damned Thing. Because there's just no way in hell that the NFL is going to be bothered to do anything more to address bad game calls. Don't like it? Well...no one's forcing you to watch the games...

The vibe I seem to get from the first few comments is sort of leaning towards not having any reviews with any criticisms public at all whatsoever, which I frankly just do not agree with. Were that to be the case, then I'd say even using the term "reviews" for author feedback here would be just plain misleading, since it would be strictly one-sided. Having said that, I do agree that overly critical, harsh reviews could probably be better left privately. But I do think that there are ways to leave a review that has some criticisms in it without coming off like a complete jerk, and certainly there are ways to still be encouraging in the process.
-
You know what? I don't know if it really matters, to tell you the truth. Why? Because no matter who the hell is refereeing any of these games, there's going to be so many people - including a number of people on here! - bitching, moaning, and complaining, about how the refs can't call the games for shit. I've noticed that it's been happening more and more for the past couple of years now. So...really, what difference will it make whether it's these so-called "replacement" refs, or "regular" refs, calling the games? Absolutely no difference at all, in my opinion. So...get used to it!!

It's That Time...For the Season...To Be Ending...

Appreciate everyone's input. Got a way to get me down to Texas there Yang? -
So I found out today that my last day at the park for the season will probably be sometime around the last weekend of our three-week Fall Harvest fest. That is the weekend of October 12-13-14. As it turns out, I'm going to be on the other side of the state that exact weekend, so my last day might end up being the 11th. I'll find out when the schedule gets updated next week. (I get paid bi-weekly, and today was the last day of the current pay period, so the schedule for the period following this next one should be ready sometime early next week.) It's definitely sad knowing that the end of my work season will now be coming up pretty soon. I mean yeah, I knew it would have to be coming up before too long, but knowing the exact time now kind of drives it home, yeah? Now I just need to figure out what to do with myself - employment-wise - for the time being. I'm definitely planning on applying to work at the park again next year, but until then...I really have two options: Either work elsewhere in the meantime, or since technically the end of the season is a "lay-off", I could file an unemployment claim. I'd really rather work in the meantime, probably at other seasonal jobs so that I don't have to "quit" to work at the park again. This way, I can save the unemployment option for in case the job search doesn't work out. But, we'll see... Staying optimistic, Mike
