    Shout It Out

A sweet little story Lugh. I loved the way you had Gabe being silent in his own way.

    A World on Mute

For a short piece like this, I was expecting . . . I don't know. A bit more focus? Although the writing is good, it felt like a hodge-podge collection of snippets, with no real flow or connection. I've read through half a dozen times, and sadly still have no real sense of what direction the author wants to go in. While I found it a moving piece, it's almost as though the narrator has gone out of his way to pick the worse moments of his life to focus on, but then there is no real resolution - good or bad.
  4. A great story Comsie. Thankfully none of my friends have ever dared pull anything like that on me. This is one of my favs from this anthology.
  5. Here's hoping you get a diagnosis PDQ. Sounds like when I had gallstones a few years back. I had unbearable shooting pains up and down my back and across my shoulders. The pain was so bad I was on morphine. Take care Wayne
  6. Dare I ask, Sharon
  7. Welcome Lily and Sasha. Hope you have fun here. We're a pretty friendly bunch.
  8. I have to agree with Cia. Nothing narks me more than homophones. Nothing but a pair of human eyes can pick them up. Spellchecker doesn't, and even MS Word's grammar check misses far more than it catches. One I can forgive, two grates, three or more and I just want to cry.
  9. Sounds all good Robert Keeping you in my prayers
  10. I usually don't venture into poetry (don't write it, don't read it, don't get it), but that was so moving.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Fishie. I wanted to keep this story funny. I wrote too many angsty/maudlin stories last year, and really needed a change. Glad you enjoyed it.
  12. Great tip as always Libby.
  13. Sounds like an interesting read. I'll have to add it to my list.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reading RJ. I really enjoyed being able to write a lighthearted anthology story for a change. I've got ideas to continue the story as well.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review KC. I've never actually seen 'Death' or the 'Angel of Death' as being evil. I've always seen him/her/them as being a neutral entity, since both good people and bad people eventually die. I wanted to put a cutesy lighthearted spin on him without being philosophical about it. Since I always wake up at the good bit in dreams, I thought Matthew should suffer along with me

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reading Rob. I really wanted to keep this one light given my stories from last year. I was actually a little worried that I'd written this a little too light and funny, but I'm glad you liked it.

    Chapter 1

Wow! I'm not sure what else I can say that hasn't already been said. A great story Rob, and a great interpretation of the theme.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review Wayne. Nice to know I can still surprise readers.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review. I really wanted to keep this one light-hearted. Glad you liked it.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Percy. I've got an idea for continuing this. It will probably be a series of shorter stories instead of a novella.

    Chapter 1

Thanks hun. Glad you liked it. I really needed a change from writing such maudlin offerings for the anthologies, and I think readers needed the break as well.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review Joann. I wanted to keep this story more humourous than last year's stories.
  23. Lots to read, not enough hours in the day **pours itself a large glass of merlot and sit backs**

    Chapter 1

I think a lot of people felt the same. The ending really wasn't what anyone expected. Thanks for reading.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reading and reviewing Owain. Glad you liked it. My older short stories tended to be like this. Not sure why? I think it was just as a contrast to the main story I was writing at the time since it was so cutesy and sweet.
