  1. I can't actually recall the first time I went into a gay bar or club as it was such a long time ago, and I've been to so many over the years. I've been to Torget in Gamla Stan as well, but with the lower exchange rates on the Swedish Kroner their prices are getting a little expensive. Though had fun there. I've been to a number of the bars and clubs in Prague over the years and believe me they make London's look very tame. I love Escape, even though it's full of (very yummy) gogo boys plying their trade, but at least they aren't pushy about it (and the mega-strip is an event not to be missed ). Temple is advertised as the best gay bar in Prague, but I've always found it very seedy - I won't give my full opinion on Temple because no doubt I'd get told off by one of the mods (or maybe all of them ). Club Termix is just way too loud for my liking, but it seems to be the in thing with the younger guys. There are a load of gay bars (and clubs) up and down Vinohradska. The bars are usually quiet and relaxing places to have a drink, the clubs are where you go on the pull. I absolutely love Saints Bar for a nice quiet drink (and to drool over the barman) - its prices are also very reasonable (£1-£1.50 for a beer, and £2-£3 for most spirits, with the local firewater being as cheap as £1) which are all less than a third of London's prices.
  2. Happy birthday Krista. Hope you have a great one
  3. I'm always on the lookout for shorter stories to read. A great review Wayne.
  4. Poor Grumpy will look like this a lot then :
  5. I don't bother any more. One resolution was to drink less - lasted about a month, but then I had four celebrations back to back so I spent an entire week drunk Another resolution was to give up eating fast food - lasted about a week My worse resolution was to give up chocolate - that lasted all of eight hours **epic fail**
  6. Happy birthday Kyle. Have a great day.
  7. I've never been someone to jump on the celebrity band wagon but: There was Mr DiCaprio in a little known film called Critters 3 - not really a favourite of mine, but he was some very yummy eye candy for when I was a teen One of my favourites from the early 1980's (comedian Russ Abbot) I do like celebrity chef George Calombaris (some will recognise him from Australia MasterChef or if you are really really lucky from restaurant Maba Baba in South Yarra Melbourne):

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review. This was the first time I'd ever written anything sad and maudlin, and I'm still surprised at how moving readers find this for such a short story. This was actually one of the first stories I posted here and I'd almost forgotten about it. If you want a happy story of mine, I'd suggest Kyle and Kodi Honestly, it's a very happy-happy story.
  9. I love your writing tips Libby. They are always so clear and concise. This is one of those tips that I've always tried to follow, but I always end up going to the other extreme. By trying not to include too much "expertise" in a story, I end up hardly including any or none at all. It's probably why I've never wanted to write an Egyptology themed story - I'd probably end up being accused of being Zahi Harwass in disguise But as you say, it's something that will come with practice.
  10. Welcome to GA Finn, and welcome from the Forest of the Lurkers Wicked Witch. Hope you both have fun and enjoy the site, and looking forward to whatever you decide to write. New writers are always welcome
  11. Awwwww, bless Though the last time I wrote a sex scene I went the other way - I went totally overboard. I had to do half a dozen rewrites before I could be sure it didn't violate community guidelines

    Chapter 1

That's always the way isn't it? It's always the idiots who survive I thought about going with the flow, but the only problem with there being so many girls and one boy, is that it would still leave hope for survival.
  13. Welcome everyone. Hope all of you find something here to enjoy.
  14. Merry Christmas Tom Have a great Hogmanay as well
  15. The mother-in-law has just asked me to bake my spiced plum crumble. Am I going to go out at 8:15 at night in the rain in search of plums? Of course I am, or I'll never hear the end of it
  16. We're very traditional. Turkey and all the trimmings (God help me if I forget the pigs in blankets), more veg than you can shake a stick at, all washed down with several bottles of red wine. Yeah, I know you should really have white wine with poultry, but I get drunk far too easily on white wine. Pudding will be a selection of everything (mince pie, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, Yule log etc etc) in a bowl and drowned in brandy sauce. Turkey sandwiches in the evening. Bubble and squeak Boxing Day morning. And then more turkey until New Year
  17. Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda Myr. Thank you for everything you do to keep this site running. Hope you have a great Christmas
  18. So we made it through the end of world (big shock) and Christmas has come round again. This year my in-laws (well, you know what I mean, Brett's parents) are coming to Christmas dinner, and they arrive tomorrow - God help us all. Now don't get me wrong, I love his mum to bits, but she's just too much for me to handle when I'm cooking. Our kitchen is a tiny little thing that is just about large enough for an oven, a sink, a fridge and one (count them ONE) cook. His mum is like those annoying people in the car when you're driving. You know the sort; they tell you go faster, to go slower, to turn left, to "OMG watch out for that cyclist!". Last time she was hanging around in the kitchen when I was cooking, I got injured twice: My first injury, I ended up with third degree burns. I'd just taken the casserole dish out of the oven, and I nearly tripped over her, splashing myself with gravy. My second injury, I managed to stab myself in the hand with a paring knife. I was peeling potatoes to go with our casserole, and she backed into me causing my hand to slip. Now in the grand scheme of things, I've had far worse happen to me in the kitchen over the years. I've still got the burn mark from where I splashed boiling hot toffee on myself when I was eight years old (I think that was the first time I actually used some of the proper grown up swear words ), I managed to break my big toe after dropping a cast iron stewpot on it, and I've sliced my fingers open on my food processor blades more times than I can count. But I'd just like to get through Christmas Day without needing to use the first aid kit. I plan to park the mother-in-law on the sofa in front of The Queen's Speech with a large glass of sherry where hopefully she'll avoid injuring me I've also never quite known what to make of his dad. He's always been great about us, but he's almost "too great". He's like those parents who try and keep up with their kids, listen to their kids' music, watch the same films as their kids, he's even threatened to start going to Pride with us I'm just not sure I've ever seen the real him; so I've never really known how to take him. Still it could be worse I suppose. It could my parents coming to Christmas dinner.
  19. Wishing you a very happy birthday
  20. That's good to hear Renee. Adults tend to cope with most leukaemia and lymphoma chemos really well, unlike children. But make sure he still takes it easy. The risk when people cope with the chemo really well and have very few side effects is they think they are a lot better than they actually are. He can still tire very easily, and overexert himself without realising. Here's hoping you all have as a good a Christmas as you can.
  21. Hi Emma Always nice to have another European member here. I love Comsie's stuff as well, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of stories here you'll enjoy.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review Dolores. I kinda rushed this in the end, so the ending isn't as long as I would have liked, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. As they say: Great minds think alike

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reading Michael. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reviewing Bill. In all of the disaster movies I've seen, they always save the President and the Pope and the old "Daddy Warbucks" guys with the money, and give no thought to having a large enough gene pool to ensure survival of the species. I thought it was time to call them on it
  25. Happy birthday Cailen I hope today is everything you want it to be. Have a great day
