    I might be a cranky curmudgeon, but this one really got me going! The grief he caused my all time and forever favorite Monarch (EIIR). Short story, I was in London (mid 70's), in a hotel bar (Union Jack Club), we were approached and asked if we would like to meet with Her Majesty, The Queen? I (we, three UN soldiers on leave) said YES and the rest as they say is history (this is a true story). Ever since, when I hear that old ditty "Went to London to visit the Queen" I get a bit misty. Back to our post. All I am going to say, is look up 'Randy Andy'.........! Rest In Peace, Your Majesty sandrewn (we shall never see her like again)

    Carlos joined GA shortly after I did and after a time, I guess I took it for granted, like most here that there would always be a Carlos Hazday around to liven things up. I was wrong, on June 16, 2023 he left this earthly plain and has gone on ahead of us and I choose to believe that we are (all) destined to meet again. Rest in peace my friend.     As if that is not bad enough, add water to the mix, such as with whales, dolphins and porpoises and it is literally, sink or swim, with their first breath of life. For the rest of their lives.

    Jaywalking is not in the Criminal Code and is not considered a criminal offence in Canada. No law on jaywalking exists at the federal level, although several provinces and territories in Canada, as well as municipalities, have enacted regulations and/or by-laws that restrict when a pedestrian may cross a roadway. In Quebec, pedestrians who don't obey the rules laid out in the Highway Safety Code face a fine of $15 to $30. In Montreal, the police slap more than 3,000 jaywalkers a year with $48 fines. Now be honest (at least with yourself) have none of you, at some point in your lives, done this no,no? Let me start, hell yes a bazillion times. I feel so much better for getting that off my chest. Just remember to look both ways first (guilty yes, stupid no).

    I have heard about canasta off and on all my life, sadly I never did learn how to play the game. Friends have said what a pity, as it would have been a SNAP to learn.     CNN is not one of my favorites either. However in the article used, the explanation given was an eye opener and sheds light in how bad it is for all tigers. From the article: The World Wildlife Fund estimates about 5,000 of the big cats live in captivity around the country, although animal welfare experts say precise numbers are hard to find. That’s compared to the roughly 3,900 wild tigers left in the world, experts estimate. Most of the tigers in the US are held in backyards, breeding facilities and at small theme parks or roadside attractions, the WWF says. Only about 6% are at accredited zoos, the group says. “The United States has a responsibility to manage the staggering 5,000 estimated captive tigers within its own borders,” Leigh Henry, the WWF’s director of wildlife policy, told CNN. The actual number of tigers in captivity in the US is probably higher because hundreds are bred each year as props for wild animal attractions, says Carole Baskin, founder of Big Cat Rescue, the Florida animal sanctuary made famous by the Netflix series “Tiger King.”

    I think I will stick with the ' Myr ' quote to be on the safe side. Much of the Netherlands Is Below Sea Level Today, around 27% of the Netherlands is actually below sea level. This area is home to over 60% of the country's population of approximately 17 million people. The Netherlands, which is roughly the size of the U.S. states Connecticut and Massachusetts combined, has an average elevation of 36 feet (11 meters). A huge part of the Netherlands is highly susceptible to flooding. Time will tell if the North Sea Protection Works are strong enough to protect it.     @beatmopzz First - Welcome to GA and to your first post. Second - That depends? I don't know where you live, soooo. If you live in a rain forest, does it really matter? If you live anywhere near me (Montreal), I doubt it. We had a snow storm on Monday with 15+cm. Yesterday it was 7 above freezing and had to avoid all the puddles, while walking to the store in my running shoes. Forecast is some snow tonight. Some snow Friday evening and flurries all day Saturday. Spring? Bah, Humbug! Take care, sandrewn
