A colonel, stopped by and asked if we would like to meet Queen Elizabeth II. Who was officially opening the club in one hour. The rest as they is history. We changed into uniform. She came to our table, spoke to each of us about our UN duties, where we lived( wow, a 15 min. personal meeting with her Majesty). It was formally opened by the Patron-in-Chief, Queen Elizabeth II, on 12 February 1976. Now, I can in all honesty, say with no lie. I have been to London to visit the Queen.
