Wow, and wasn't the hero subject fun. But it's time for a new take. This time we head into the realm of the strange but remember it's science fiction. So, keep your fantasies to yourself. Happy writing. The SIX-WORDED SCI-FI subject is: The door at the end of the hall.

Two words: Butlerian Jihad Readers of the Dune series of books will understand. The gist is that the jihad was a rebellion against thinking machines. Out of that long rebellion to overthrow machine-logic came a most important law: “Thou shall not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.”

In Twenty One Pilots' fourth studio album Blurryface, Tyler Joseph sings the following lyrics in the song Stressed Out: "I wish I found some better sounds no one's ever heard I wish I had a better voice that sang some better words I wish I found some chords in an order that is new I wish I didn't have to rhyme every time I sang" So, it's no wonder that Ed Sheeran produced something close to what had already been done. Led Zepplin went through this not too long ago when accused of copying a part of a 1968 song by Spirit, they won their case, too.

See, it was already done, nothing new.

I guess I wasn’t clear on that, sorry. Each new topic supersedes the one before it, folks. Humor is always appreciated but what each person writes is up to them. Edit: I have edited the original post to include this important point.

Is this for the Alien topic, which is finished. Or is it for the current Uranus topic, Bill? If it’s for the latest then I’d like to hear your thoughts on why you chose the wording.

No, I have not seen the meme, I tend to gloss over the things. I did “like” your post because, yes, after all the fun jokes we have for the planet even Doug sounds better than Georgium Sidus (George’s Star or -Planet, in honor of King George III).

Bud, this probably belongs in the “Never have I ever” topic.

I’ve been asked to consider seven words, but then, why not thirteen, or twenty, or even fifty words? The Boston Globe newspaper has a submission feature that offers readers the opportunity to tell a personal story about the city in fifty words, and every Sunday the paper features one. Rarely does a week go by without a story. But that’s not what we’re after. No one is telling a complete story in six words here although you can encapsule the idea of one, which is what we’re after. I will let you in on a little secret. Hyphenated words count as one, for example: Ron gave us a long-winded story. On the topic: Alien... @kbois was the only post to tackle the actual appearance of an alien. A few posts featured interactions with an alien. A lot of posts took on the dynamic and always exciting alien invasion trope. @Daddydavek garnered the most reactions with eight. (Please note the post included ten words, that’s a no-no but I’ll let it slide this time. ) One poster managed to capture a long-time abduction phenomenon, and his probing insight on the subject was… well, let’s say he thought about this a lot. “My butt is sore. Wonder why…” didn’t garner the most reactions but it did capture the spirit of the topic. One of the planets in our solar system has been in the news of late because the James Webb telescope captured an amazing image of it. I’ll let @astone2292 cheeky posts lead us into the next SIX-WORDED SCI-FI. Your assignment: Uranus

WIRED magazine came up with an idea for readers to submit a science fiction story in six words. They gave readers an assignment to base their stories on and then vetted the submissions. They list a winner and honorable mentions. I thought it might be fun to do that here, with the vetting being done by the members: All reactions will count. Keep in mind that you don't need Author statis to submit your story. I'll try to produce a new topic every couple of weeks, although, if you have a sci-fi idea and you'd like me to feature it PM me and I'll pop it up as we go. Feel free to comment all you like but if you want to enter a story -- Enter your six-worded story alone in a post. Enter as often as you like. I'll start us out in my next post below. Your assignment: Author a story about an alien in six words. EDIT TO ADD: Each new assignment/topic/subject supersedes the one before it and becomes the focus for new exploration.
