I tried once. Happy New Year drove the editor crazy. She kept asking for more romance and instead I had vandalism and gunshots.- 3,873 replies

Real life and current events. Paying attention to what happens around me tends to spark the creative juices.

CJ By Carlos Hazday - Series Discussion
Carlos Hazday replied to Carlos Hazday's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Bite your tongue! I started reading a story with a good premise this past weekend. College-aged jocks falling for each other and coming out. After the tenth "I love you so much... you complete me" bullshit line, I dropped it. Sitting here wondering if the scene where CJ buys out Myr and the other owners and takes over GA will come true.- 3,873 replies

CJ By Carlos Hazday - Series Discussion

First, the stock market tanked the way Cesar predicted. Now, a racist-pig Congressman quotes CJ and claims to be an American nationalist instead of a bigot. I'm kinda scared of what else in the story will come true.- 3,873 replies

You gonna let me know when I can stop?

You may have noticed I don't repeat what I've written before, and I tend to leave some things open to interpretation or expansion to readers. I've lost readers because people don't like/believe CJ would have sex, smoke pot, or travel all over by himself with his fathers' consent. That's fine since there are plenty of stories I don't like to read because they deal with teen angst, sadness, or a few other things. We all have our likes and dislikes. I may have tweaked things a bit following comments, but I've stuck to my outline/timetable. I have CJ's life planned out through middle age.
-
Revisiting chapters as new readers leave comments. I found yours fascinating again in light of what someone posted yesterday concerning GA's rules.
-
@Will Hawkins Proper use of certain words will be highlighted in a chapter or two. CJ even gets in the act by correcting his brother once or twice.
-
Thanks! Corrected that one and added a few missing commas in the process.
-
And while he was somewhat insulting, none of the above comments has followed his approach, nor has anyone called him names. Papi Carlos is so proud of all you kids. You've all reacted like mature adults instead of being childish.

Not me... and I've been known to push the envelope. Hell, I was even moderated when one of my stories was mostly sexual. It pissed me off at the time, but it helped me become a better writer. I've experimented with lots of story types and content, and plan on doing more in the future. Hell, I wrote an entire book about politics, and have had plenty of political discussions as a result. As @MacGreg mentioned, I like being associated with a site that allows such great leeway and encourages interaction with readers. I posted on Nifty for a bit but I'd rather use that place for smut when I need it and GA for actual stories.

CJ By Carlos Hazday - Series Discussion
Carlos Hazday replied to Carlos Hazday's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
It was funny over Christmas telling my brother who recently moved to Brooklyn where to go. Since his wife is still in Miami, he has time to explore. When I showed him pictures of the Path station at Ground Zero, he added it to his list of places to visit. I think CJ and Owen have spent more time in NYC than I ever di, but I can fake my way around and not sound like a tourist most of the time.- 3,873 replies

CJ By Carlos Hazday - Series Discussion

Third time trying to reply, 1810. Stupid GA keeps deleting my comments when I hit enter. You're correct, Pastrami Queen, Pick-A-Bagel, And Lexington Candy Shop conveniently line up on Lex north of the apartment. I figured they'd become favorites more due to location than quality although they're all pretty good. Those damn milkshakes at the Candy Shop... One comment and @Defiance19 can correct me if I'm wrong. A New Yorker would never say Lexington and E XX St. More like XX and Lex. Lexington Avenue is on NYC's east side, no corresponding Lexington on the West Side and locals always abbreviate to Lex. I sounded like such a tourist when I first started visiting the City. I don't consider a reader making a prediction when they have zero knowledge of what's coming up a spoiler. If you're correct, it just means you were faster and cleverer (is that a word?) than others. At some point, we'll get to find out what Liz wrote in her final letter. At least some of it. LOL

Thanks!!! I've been saying all along CJ's not perfect; Ethan calling him out was a nice twist. CJ learned not to push his wealth on Owen but now he gets a lesson on how to allow others to carry a bit of the weight. Everyone talks about single mothers since they are more common, but there are plenty of men who take responsibility for their kids too.

@Reader1810 Wow! You're right. I thought of Doc and Chip, but they were never married. Now I have Tom & JP, Cesar & Brett, Randy and Tyler, Rod and Taisha, CJ and Owen, and Cristina and Damien to play with. A divorce would be a nice little twist. Eeenie, meenie, mighty...

@Will Hawkins I started out with a little one and after a couple years had to buy one of the big round ones. I'm glad my phone holds all that information now.
-
Wait until you read through the comments in Georgetown: Roar, there are plenty of political ones.

sneak peek Earth Day Stories
Carlos Hazday replied to Carlos Hazday's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Now that I'm done writing CJ, I will be working on this project. Like most readers aimed at 6-year-olds, it will be a very short story. I hope to finish it sometime this week. Of course, that depends on how much editing/beta reading I have to do. Funny you commented on this, I pulled up my initial fragment early this morning and started revisions. Thinking along the same lines again, my friend. -

Please... I was up by 5 am my time as usual. I usually get more done in the mornings than the rest of the day.
