  1. Just had breakfast but I'll make room for paella any day.
  2. LMAO Liebe seems to hold grudges (again I wonder where she gets that from) but her father's older and wiser and knows sometimes compromise is needed. As for the Aussie PM being a dick, I wanted to show us Americans don't have a lock on idiots being elected.
  3. Thanks! Even when I've written sad episodes, I always try to include a silver lining. This one was all joy. Well, almost. Liebe seems to be a bit headstrong, and I keep wondering how that happened.
  4. People in glass houses should not walk around naked. Not that I follow that advice, but...
  5. Last week, Dodger claimed the best were saved for last. CONGRATULATIONS!
  6. Thank you! I may have teared up while listening to the song. My beta reader, unfamiliar with the series, liked the format of the wedding scene. Then I mentioned it was the same one I'd used for CJ and Owen's wedding 30 years before and the same man singing. I thought that would be a nice touch for those who've read other CJ stories.
  7. Thought of you this week when writing about CJ and Owen at another wedding. Formal attire and Owen wears his kilt. Can you believe CJ celebrated his 50th birthday? And how did you like WIll getting mentioned, Harry and Meghan being referenced, and Lilibet being in the wedding party? Archie was at the wedding too. LOL
  8. THANK YOU! Although @Mrsgnomie previously accused me of recycling characters, there are actually 4 in this story I've never mentioned before. I do owe her a debt of gratitude, since I asked her to beta read without her knowing my cast. She mentioned the story felt like an epilogue, and in a way it is. An epilogue to the entire series. Hopefully, new readers will discover the characters, like them, and decide to tackle the series.
  9. Gracias, Gary. Kinda rainy around here the past couple of days and more expected today. Perfect for reading all the antho submissions. Come back and review/recommend the story? If you do, the first round in Spain's on me. Vale?
  10. @JACC I recently helped my 13 yo nephew with a class project about our family's history, and it reinforced the fact I'm a mutt too. Maybe that's one reason I have such a varied cast of characters. The quilt vs melting pot comment is something I planned to introduce in one of the short stories covering the summer of 2022, and thought it was worth including. The story you worked on is coming up next month. How about a recommendation and/or review to show non-CJ fans these tales are worth reading?
  11. That was definitely my intent. I tried to provide a glimpse at how someone in CJ's position has to balance personal and national interests, and how at times compromise is necessary. My goal was to show him maneuvering through that mine field. Would you consider recommending and or reviewing the story as a whole? Help me spread the word about these characters.
  12. @Anton_Cloche Thank you! See, even though I don't write romances, I can do the weepy stuff now and then. LOL Since this is part of the Anniversary Anthology, it is not CJverse canon. But as a possibility of what might happen, I thought it was a good premise for a story. Glad you enjoyed it. How about recommending or reviewing the story as a whole. It would be appreciated.
  13. Thank you, Cris. This story's part of the Anniversary Anthology therefore the Thursday publishing. Friday postings will resume next month.
  14. Summer 2047 The Oval Office The White House “Hi, Papi.” When her father stood, Elizabeth Liston Abelló—Liebe to everyone—walked around the Resolute desk to hug him. César Marcos Abelló, Jr. had been elected the first openly gay President of the United States of America in 2040. Seven years later, as the end of his second term neared, he met in the Oval Office with his husband, daughter, and future son-in-law. The president shook his head. “Oh, oh… I’m in trouble now. If you’re
  15. Elizabeth Liston Abelló and Fabricio Cesar Baravento have known each other since they were born. Their fathers, President César Marcos Abelló and Thiago Zeca Baravento had been friends since high school. On the eighty-first anniversary weekend of the Supreme Court’s decision in Loving vs Virginia, the young couple marries in the Rose Garden at the White House.
  16. I think I want to binge a few westerns this weekend. That was enjoyable.
  17. The author skillfully blends current issues to create a dystopian society which is quite believable. The consequences of climate change are evident in the landscape descriptions and the intolerance of extremist views leads to suffering. That many were seduced by those beliefs and eventually imposed their will on others is a call to action. Vigilance instead of apathy can prevent a world like the one described in Ten Years After. Even in the darkness, there are good people. The protagonist is still fighting and helping those who are persecuted. Quite a story and definitely worth reading.

  18. You got me. Nice twist at the end of a twisted story. Good job.
  19. Simply channeling my smart-mouthed character.

I'll leave you a review tomorrow. In the meantime, BRAVO! Exquisite writing, excellent action, and a thought-provoking subject. I recently had an American character warn that we must remain ever vigilant or our rights could get trampled. The right wing will not stop until gay people are once again criminals and segregation becomes the law of the land. Think I'm exaggerating? Clearance Thomas has already warned us. And we've already had an insurrection attempting to overthrow the government. May I be proven wrong.

My early stuff was varied but never so well written. I'll credit all that experimentation with helping me become a better writer.
  22. LMFAO Hey, they were new to you. And anyway, why mess with perfection? If it worked with Harry Potter it should work with another precocious child.

    Chapter 1

Bitch! You made me cry again. But you also made me laugh and fall in love with the characters. Particularly, Dad. If he's catholic, he better be canonized. The damage done under the guise of good intentions or due to mental illness can be horrific. Although consistent medication can help those like Shay's mother for a while, our society's emphasis on normalizing the lives of those afflicted like her, can backfire and cause harm to them or others. For some, an asylum could be the right answer. I did not have a good relationship with my mother. Her caring was over the top (I make sure none of my characters are helicopter parents) and her difficulty dealing with my homosexuality drove a wedge between us. Like, Shay, I could tell when the word did not match the feelings. As I much as I hate romantic drivel, I'm a sucker for a happy ending. Shay and Griff reconnecting made the painful parts of the story worth it. Great story Now, about your writing... One of my edit comments was I would take it easy on you since I did not want to mess with your writing style. However, next time, I'm taking the gloves off. I think you've been hanging with Andy too much and getting just as verbose. If you want an idea of what to expect, ask @astone2292 how many times I delete sentences and paragraphs and my explanation's always simplifying.
  24. Thanks, Dodger. @Mrsgnomie Good news! Since they're saving the best for last, yours will be up next week. Carlos ducks and runs away.

Nice job, Adi. Who would have thought a story about cake(s) would be so enjoyable.
