I would imagine that even Paraguay has a 'war room'. Since it seems that the majority of the military leadership is now behind him, with the ones not eliminated, wouldn't you think he would be taking command at a control centre of some sort? As far as I recall, the invasion of the capital is to seize the presidential palace (J/S bribed the presidential guards), and the parliament. Since the enlisted or rank and file soldiers are believed to follow their bought off commanders, really what harm could come to J/S? Okay, I'll float an idea........What if J/S isn't even in Paraguay. Dimitri would have probably reported back to J/S that Mario was dead, and the band was still alive being guarded by the police and bikers. Would J/S be nervous enough to go back to the States where he could be closer to his "real" threat (Instinct and the possible knowledge of the bombs placements)? Being where things are on hay bales, could he be in Colorado himself? Will there be a short lived reunion between Dimitri and J/S? CJ was just way too brief with this part for my liking. He mentioned a Peruvian solider, but he could have been with him. There is no reference at all to his current location. I think if it wasn't really an issue, CJ would have said something like: In a barn just on the outskirts of Asuncion, The Scar looked over hix maps placed over hay bales. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree . I guess we will know shortly.

Something just occurred to me  . The title for chapter 44 was El Vohzd. Did anyone else find it weird that CJ chose to only write two paragraphs in the whole chapter about J/S? I know he usually has some misdirection from titles of chapters, but now that I think about it, this kind of worries me. All we know is the Paraguay is under siege, and that J/S is being referred by El Vohzd. The other thing, is J/S's current location. With maps spread out over hay bales makes me believe that he is in a barn in a rural area, not anywhere near where the action is. Anyone else concerned?

Happy Birthday Viv!!! Here's hoping that your day is memorable. You are a amazing person who makes a lot of people happy, and you do it everyday. So Happy 29th!!! Steve

I'm sure they have a dirt cheap rack rate at the Grand Califorian........right

Okay, since nobody else bit at this one , I'll give it a stab Brotherhood to Impede & Thwart Cruelty to Helen Hopefully that works for ya Steve, I know it will for Gary . Not too sure if she is a goner or not. A few years back a friend was cut with a hockey skate straight across the inside of his elbow and cut an artery. With direct pressure on a spurting cut, he eventually passed out from shock and loss of blood. The ambulance arrived and rushed him to the hospital with just a saline drip. By the time we showered, changed and got to the hospital they were discharging him. CJ really has only given us a former medics personal opinion, not that of a doctor or current paramedic/medic. I'm sure all is going to work out for our favourite girl character and she'll be back in no time flat. Steve

I know this post is kind of useless, but.... I chose that they were not dead, and that was before CJ posted the whole chapter. I then pm'd my solutions to the current mess based on the four paragraphs. Luckily this time I was 2 for 3 guesses . Actually CJ gave us clues in both the story, as well as the forums. Unfortunately I have been without access to the internet for a couple of days, so couldn't post. I don't know, I kind of feel a bit dirty. Figuring out the clues and not being able to share them . I wonder if this is what CJ feels like on a weekly basis . Steve

Great Chapter CJ Thanks I glad that everything is well in Telluride . I will wait a while before posting some thoughts though. Just thought I'd mention the ending, a stand off about to happen at an abandoned mine entrance. Isn't it ironic, don't you think? Steve

Sneak peek: The first four paragraphs of LTMP 44
wildone replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
Where's Gunter? I WANT GUNTER!!! Well if there was any chance of Shadowgod of overthrowing CJ for the title of King of Evil Cliffhangers, I think that CJ just killed it. With four paragraphs, eight sentances, 188 words (10 commas as well ) CJ has created the shortest posted cliffhanger of them all . I'm sure this record will stand for years. Long live the King :king: -
Oh great . So you have decided to wait till Tuesday afternoon, instead of the Monday evening posting time. And on Sunday evening we get four paragraphs t conclude the scene in the house. Paragraph one: Brandon shoots Eric Paragragh two: Dimitri shoots Brandon with the service revolver Paragraph three: Dimitri slices Chase's neck with the knife Paragraph four: Dimitri runs out of the house End of the house scene Well lets hope not

After considering everyone's posts, and careful contemplation, I decided to break the tie once again with my vote . From the picture presented, I feel that Shadowgod would be very capable with a knife . So when and where is the ceremony??? Steve

Too bad it wasn't posted for the Dallas trip . Imagine the pictures if all the guys had had goat and tequila

Just to add: There is no problem getting in to Canada with the Drivier's License, we like everybody to come visit . It's just getting back into the US that will soon be tricky without the proper paperwork. With a bit of advanced planning, all of it can be avoided though.

Montreal would be great!! I have been to Toronto, and although they have a great gay district, the city is a bit too big and spread out for me. Besides, been there, done it. The only disadvantage of Montreal is that I can probably fly and stay in a hotel cheaper to anywhere in the US than across Canada to Montreal (Don't worry you Americans, it is only expensive for domestic travel, cross border is pretty cheap). Never been to Montreal but the stories I've heard and read about definitely makes it a destination that I'll have to get to. On the other hand, NYC definitely has appeal too. I have heard the costs can be expensive if staying in Manhattan, but then again, it might be the only chance to go there, so why not?

Thank You to those who worked on the Summer Anthology
wildone replied to C James's topic in The Lounge
After reading four entries in the past couple of hours.... Thank you all of you. I know each of you put a lot of time and effort into the anthologies, and I always look forward to reading them. Hopefully you know how much I appreciate the hard work that you volunteer to make sure they get up . Congratulations on becoming the Anthology Coordinator Graeme. Hopefully this means there will be a descending vote on any further secret polls that the goat may try to start. And so far, everything I've read has been superb, so a thank you to all the authors that contributed. Steve -
CJ, I must applaud you . When I heard you were going to tackle something non fictional, I was unsure what you would deliver. Learning about the Norse is something that is taught in school here, but I do not believe I pulled out a tenth of what I did with this story. History has never been one of my favourite subjects, so much I would say that it is boring. Fortunately, you gave me a history lesson that was interesting. I believe that the way you gave the information in a compact, fact based, and linear way was what grabbed my interest. Finishing off the story with what you believe may have occurred actually makes me want to look into it more. Knowing the amount of research that you put into your stories, I'm sure I will not find anything extra, and probably nothing written in a way that I would be kept interested. So who knows? I'm sure somewhere in the future I'll be in a discussion about something relatively close to this topic, and now I'll have this to be able to refer back to. Thanks for sharing one of your interests with us. Steve

Honestly Beastkid, I did not write that myself . I would never spell the word vapourize as vaporize . What more proof do you need?

I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait anymore for the four paragraphs. So last night I hacked into CJ's computer (BTW, on a side note, I have never in my life seen so many files of pictures of goats.......and none of them wearing any clothes ). So here is the first four paragraphs: Seeing that his words had their desired effect, and hoping that his final sacrifice would not be in vain, Eric stood tall, chest puffed and shoulders back, brave and unafraid as he closed his eyes to await his end. Brandon, knowing that he only had about one second left, made one final glance over to Chase who had a pleading look on his face for Brandon not to sacrifice his brother for his own. Suddenly, before even Brandon's eyes could show any reaction, the ghost of Gunter materialized behind Dimitri. Instantly the apparition seized the muscle between Dimitri's shoulder and neck and applied the correct amount of pressure to the right nerve to deliver a perfect Vulcan nerve grip. Dimitri, not having any time to react, was instantly rendered unconscious, dropping the blade pressed against Chase's neck and the service revolver pointed at Brandon to the floor. With a struggled "oomph", Dimitri would never wake to find he had fallen on his own dropped blade. Piercing him just below the middle of the rib cage, and at the angle, it immediately stopped his heart. Other than a damp wet spot on the front of his pants, no other fluid had the chance to escape his body. Knowing that he was still protecting his employers, his friends, his boys, Gunther winked to a startled Brandon and vaporized before anyone else could see what he did.

Welcome Jimmy , Good to see that CJ's cliffhangering has you posting . CJ, that was 55 minutes ago !!! What's the wait

If you feel this poll is biased: DO NOT VOTE!!! Presently nobody has voted, let's keep it that way!!

Thanks for the chapter CJ . it was great. I do think we should seriously save our fingers from typing the big long word cliffhanger, and just abbreviate the word to CJ. Think about it....'Should we nominate Dom, DK, and Steve for the evilest CJ this year?' or 'Can you believe the CJ that Kevin ended the his chapter with?' I will post more tomorrow about the actual chapter, but one bit stood out to me:
-
Do you think CJ would be cruel enough to post a chapter with a huge evil cliffhanger, and then turn around and make us with two weeks ?

With the talk of what is going through Dimitri's mind, suicide bomber missions, and basically walking into a war zone alone, it makes me wonder if Dimitri is of sane mind right now. He now knows about the bikers, the police officers, and he is down Mario, so what is driving him to continue on with his objective? He is walking in blindly to the above threats, but he doesn't know about the band being armed, the occupants of the ranch house doubling, and that the air force are moinitoring the situation. Has Dimitri gone over the deep end? In this passage: Do these seem to be the actions of a sane person? The highlighted words caught my attention expecially the feral. Has Dimitri gone to basic animalistic instincts? His actions appear to be more like how a wild animal kills with no regard for life than a human. Yikes, and you know that a rabid animal will stop at nothing until their dead. I don't think taking out Dimitri will be as easy as we think  . Steve

Hey Steve, Actually things are a bit different in the weat of Canada. There is really two types of levels of primary education. It varies from municipality to municipality or school board to school board. One way is: Grades 1-6 Elementary School Grades 7-9 Junior High School Grades 10-12 High School There is a lot of school boards that are switching to the other form, due to the supposed stress being caused on 12-15 y/o's by just the word 'junior' with high school . So some operate as: Grades 1-5 Elementary School Grades 6-9 Middle School Grades 10-12 High School Either way, I have always had to really think out what the whole freshman, sophmore, junior, senior grades are that I read about. Other than refering to Grade 12's as seniors, the other names are not used at all. As far as what happens in College and University in Alberta, the Colleges are diploma granting institutions, where University is degree granting. Although there is now a shift to have Colleges have limited degree granting status due to the overcrowding of the universities. Now doesn't Ontario have a Grade 13 as part of the primary education system as well? I never understood that one. Steve

Hey Jan, That was neat I got 3/4 on Breakfast I got 4/4 on Lunch I got 2/4 on Dinner Usually I'm not to bad, but then again when you have medication to take each time you eat it makes guessing a little more dangerous. Thanks, Steve

The best way I can think to describe the difference is: Jam is made with crushed up fruit. Jelly is made from fruit juice Both are preserves, but that is usually reserved for the less crushed fruit like marmalades. Jello is a brand name for both flavoured gelatin, as well as pudding. Up here we usually just call it the washroom, which has got me some strange stares when asking for the washroom when visiting the states. A lot of people though just ask "Where's the toilets?" up here. Crude, eh? Back when we got cable, most TV's need a converter box in order to get over 13 channels, so some old people still call the remote control "the converter" My question is do you have Kraft Dinner in the states, or KD for short? It is a staple in the canadian diet and is another Kraft product that is maccaroni and cheese. Steve
