  2. Thank, @spike382 who wrote the review. I learned how to copy and paste
  3. The crispness of fall is in the air. So if you want to settle back and read what appears to be a great story, check out @spike382's review. Hope you are motivated to read This Strange World Needs a Kicking! by Laura S. Fox Reviewer: spike382 Status: Complete Word Count: 182.757 In the last couple of years, I have become an avid watcher of the live-action medium of Asian BL (Boys Love) dramas. Now I am not remotely the target audience for such dramas, but I have fallen in love with them regardless. I do mention them frequently on a community board here on GA, and after reading so many of my posts, a friend there recommended to me, more than once, that I should read a particular story by Laura S. Fox This story I somehow skipped over when it was being posted a few years ago, but as a lover of BL, was right up my preferential alley. This Strange World Needs a Kicking, is quite the wild tale indeed. It’s a story of body (and universe) switching between Kai, a nerdy, but average high school boy in our world, and Sebastian, a beautiful, but aloof prince from a high fantasy world that runs on BL logic. That may sound a little complicated right off the bat, but that’s just the very beginning. Kai’s best friend, the handsome and athletic Milo, is literally in the middle of confessing his love for Kai when the body switch happens, and Prince Sebastian’s introduction to the real world is the tail end of this conversation. Meanwhile Kai ends up in the body of the beautiful prince, naked, and next to and equally beautiful and naked Conrad, Prince Sebastian’s male concubine. What follows is a madcap tale, of two fish very much out of their usual waters trying to navigate realms and interpersonal relationships they barely understand. One a prince, used to governing a fantasy realm, plopped into a 21st century city, with modern technology, lingo, and a distinct lack of the monsters, magic, and social classes he is accustomed to. The other a 21 century, seemingly straight, American teenager stuck in a love triangle with two ridiculously beautiful men, not to mention having to deal with governing a kingdom, dragons, assassins, magic, and his Sebastian’s possibly untrustworthy cousin. Though I’m sure this sounds a little complicated, what the story truly is at its essence, is a tale of two young men finding themselves and the love they had no idea they were so in need of. All illustrated masterfully, and hilariously, by Laura S Fox’s signature writing. Even if you aren’t a BL aficionado, I truly can’t recommend this story enough. Category: Fiction Genres: Comedy, Romance Sub-genres: Comedy Modern, General Fantasy, General Romance Tags: young adult, magic, gay, anal, first-time, oral, light-hearted, high school Rating: Mature
  4. What a rollercoaster of a week! 😮 It was a lot of highs , it was a lot of lows . No, I did not borrow this from Dickens . Yet I, and you hopefully made it through it. I, like others have noticed the huge switch has been flipped since we hit September here in my neck of the woods. It seems like it was late June and I was talking about the sun being seen close to 10:30 at night. Now, it is like at 6:15 someone turned the lights out and we all went to bed for the fall and winter Maybe I need to find a job of the same latitude down in the Southern Hemisphere. With remote work, I'm sure someone on Australia would take me in for 6 months of the year. I think Australia would work. But, I don't really want to be like 12 hours ahead though, as I would be awake when everyone is asleep down under while I work. Or maybe I got that all mixed up since Melbourne is 14 hours ahead of me, or maybe not. Might have to go somewhere in South America to stay in the same time zone. Oh, maybe that won't work either, I'd need to build a raft somewhere in the middle of the Southern Ocean between Santa Cruz, Argentina and Auckland Islands, New Zealand. Considering there is absolutely no land mass probably within 1000's of kms in any direction, I imagine the internet would be spotty . Okay. I will just stock up on lightbulbs for a long dark fall and winter! I remember going and visiting a friend in Dallas and then in Houston, and was surprised how little deviation that was between the sunrise and sunset in the summer and the winter. Then again on the equator, they would be 12 hours of each year round, would they not? I'd probably be too damn hot to notice Now I guess my mind is at ease that I'm staying put. Now shall we see what happened last week? Monday, Cia kicked off a normal week here at GA and brought us the all new CSR story for September: Tuesday, Myr took us on a voyage to the genre of Poetry: Thursday, Valkyrie checked in to see if you have got your creature on. You have 1 month to go to get your anthology in; Friday, she was baaaaaack She gave us a couple of fall prompts: We had a Word of the Day. Did you check each one out? Did you learn any new words this week ? Chapter 13

I’d debate the last comment. If it isn’t country, BSB or N’Sync, she doesn’t know it. I think one time I tried to get her to watch Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah after he died, and she was worried I was trying to make her watch ‘that hard rock n roll music’ 😀’I don’t trust you’ she said

    Chapter 12

I kept calling her Dr. and asking her about all my MD questions like a growth here, constipation, other such nasty subjects until she asked me to stop calling her Dr. Need we mention the numerous discussions that we had of you wanting to retire after the previous chapter, wondering if anyone would notice if you stopped posting, how your readers all must be so mad at you, etc. I'm proud that you slug it out and decided to give this one a go of writing all ahead of time. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Oh wait, an 29 y/o carrying what, 6 or 7, maybe more years, dog new tricks
  7. Good Morning Everyone I just wanted to remind everyone that there is NO discussion allowed anywhere on the site regarding politics, political influenced topics, politicians by name or by other reference, besides in the Pitt and you're own personal blogs. I can see how being in a club so to speak, the urge to bring things up naturally day to day topic can happen. Just need everyone to realize by the sites terms of service, political content is not allowed. Unfortunately going forward, anything deemed political or controversial that should be moved to the Pitt and personal blogs will have to be addressed on a one on one basis. The Drop In Centre has been here for years!!! This is just a reminder to keep it non political. Although I may agree with many of the comments, and disagree with many as well, to keep site harmony, we do need to each watch out for this. Thanks everyone for your ongoing and future cooperation. Steve
  8. Like wowsers ! Where did the summer go? In my neck of the woods, Labour Day is the unofficial last day of the summer season. Not that we will have a blizzard blowing in on the 2nd, although some people think that happens in Canada (not naming names) and yet we still have summer weather all month. Just things kind of slow right down. Resorts are quieter, kiddies are back in school, big kiddies are in uni/college/trade school, etc. I decided to take a work week out of town last week I went to my friends cabin in the mountains and worked during the day, overlooking the lake and all the people surfing behind boats, waterskiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing. No sail boats as there was zero wind. It actually was a very non stressful week to me Sure, I wasn't out playing in the lake, but when the computer shut off for the day, I got to have some fun!! Sitting on the porch reading some stories and comments on the iPad was nice and relaxing after a cooling off of mid 90's, low 30's days, in the evenings. Okay, I hope I haven't made any one jelly I had a bit of an abbreviated Wrap Up last week as the Saturday was the day I drove up to the lake and I was originally supposed to go on Friday, so I thought Saturday was Friday. Silly Steve Now a question, as holidays are always fun, most of the US of A and Canada have Labour Day (take note of the spelling my 'merican friends ) as a stat holiday that both government and private employers recognize. So first off, do you have Labour Day in your neck of the woods, and any Labour Day plans? It is pride here, we like to be fashionable late around here . Tomorrow is parade day and I will be attending again. Need to make it known that we are still here . Then in the evening the bunch of old fags (can I say that ) that I hang out with some times, will be having a bbq. Now let me know about your plans, if any. Onto the Weekly Wrap Up, Yahooooooo! 10. Wow! What a week of the ever so popular Secret Author contest, I guess we could call this SA Week. We found out who was connected to which story We also found out the winners of the most popular story from Readers and Authors. Congratulations to @impunity and @Thirdly respectfully. It turns out that Thirdly didn't write all of the stories 😮 I guessed all of them were written by Thirdy . At least I got 1 right Just before posting my guess, I noticed the rules about only one story per author. I'm not the best on paying attention to details . I think one of the great things about the SA Contest and the other Anthologies, is that we still have a LOT of other stories and chapters being posted at the same time. It is kind of like an avalanche of activity on the boards . Check out some of the other stories below. I guess the kiddies down south are back in skewl, and the kiddies up north will start in a week and a bit depending on where in the northern hemisphere you are. We used to have a lot of college aged writers and the first few weeks of back to uni or college, we saw a bit of decrease of new content. It will be interesting to see if that holds true this year or not. Or, I imagine if you have kids of your own, you might be tied up with the back to school rush and for a lot of the kids, the back to school blues . When you were in non-advanced education, were you the kid that couldn't wait for school to start up again after a summer break, or were you one that tried to come up with a reason to not go back ? I think in elementary and then junior high, we had those where I grew up, I didn't want to go back. High School was the start of HS sports and meant some teammates would shower No, I wasn't just a perv in HS, I actually liked to get back to seeing a wider base of friends and catching up that we might not have talked over the summer. Not like we had computers and cell phones back then to follow people Back then if you followed someone, you were a stalker . This PSA is to make sure you don't stalk people!! On Monday, Cia rolled out the carpet and introduced each author to each story in our Secret Author Contest: Tuesday, Myr tipped his toes in the water to do a Deep Dive. In keeping with the SA contest, this one was a mystery too : Wednesday was the day that Cia announced the winners of the best use of the theme for the SA contest. Did you get to vote for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd? Friday, Cia wrapped up the week with naming the winners of the most popular stories, as voted by both readers and authors: Words of the Day: obsequious, lethargy, paramount, insistence, mythos, scorching, sarcastic Upcoming Writing Events 2025 Yearly Anthology - Creature Feature - Due Oct 1, 2025 - All the information you need is here. 2025 Prompt Team Event - More information to come! 14. I took the desktop into a shop. $45 for the diagnostic and they couldn't find anything that was causing such a slow boot up. He was actually surprised it took over a 1/2 hour or more before starting up till you could even start any app or browser, then another 15 mins before typing into a browser He called and since I backed up all my files on the cloud ☁️ I went with the cheaper option for him to reformat the hard drive and install Windows 11 on it again. Just means that I had to load all the apps back on, Office 365, Adobe, etc. Oh well, it is a hell of a lot faster now. In a way, it wasn't as bad as I thought when I thought of reformatting and losing everything on the drive. It had me glad that I did all the backups that I did. I hope I can get a couple of more years out of this one . Then only file I loss was my collection of all the blog banner headers So I just spent a half hour putting them in a file on the computer again. I'm finishing up the past 2 weeks of a staycation. Did I get anything really done, nah I caught up on sleep. Now I will not be looking forward to Monday AM getting up at 6 AM 😭 I really don't have a question of the week this week 😮. So how is the weather in your neck of the woods ? We just had the 3rd wetest July on record and August hasn't started off much better. If I start growing gills and flippers, I will let you all know . Let's check what happened this past week, shall we. All hell broke loose on Monday . Cia released a blog with the link for the authors of one of the Secret Author contest, and all the stories. now everyone is trying to figure out who is associated with which story. 12 pages already, oh my!! Tuesday was Myr's chance to have us look at the Literary Fiction genre: Word's Of The Day for the past week: heliotropism, decimate, mnemonic, assemblage, panoramic, halcyon, mystique 2nd question of the week . Chapter 8

If you are confused, think about me. We have counties in Canada but don't really use them too much Other than rural municiple governments and infrustructure, I think that is about it. Don't get in on how many miles are We have 10 provinces to go west to east coast With Ontario and Quebec HUGE, and we are wider than the US of A. How many states are there coast to coast So don't confuse me with counties now
  16. Loni Anderson Aug. 5, 1945 - Aug. 3, 2025 Just heard another TV icon has passed away sadly Loni Anderson passed away just before her 80th Birthday. I remember watching her and the cast of WKRP in Cincinnati with my family. I think it also might have reaffirmed my feelings that I was gay. All the cast members would stare at her breasts every scene she was in, at the time that was okay in TV . Include my dad and all the other males that would talk about her breasts. Although I loved her in the show, I always felt sorry for her and really didn't understand the draw to breasts that all the other males seemed to. RIP 😢
  17. I think we went to Lynn Canyon Bridge as it was free when I was really little, but don't think I ever made it to the Capilano one as it charged admission, @ReaderPaul. Being a family of 5 and dad in the military we didn't usually have a ton of free money to spend. Didn't one year someone try to cut the cables on the Capilano Suspension Bridge too? 😮

    Chapter 7

it is interesting how different people take the actions of others differently. Throughout reading this story up to now, never did I take Joel as standoffish. I would definitely say an introvert, maybe a loner that has a love of the game that exceeds his desire to be alone. I don't see him as a leader in the traditional sense but the type to give everyone coming into the dugout after a 3rd out a slap on the ass with his ball glove. I mean you can fake it with teammates without the close soul sharing moments too. My experience was hockey, mainly. My experience was also knowing that I was gay and that was bad at around 9 or 10 and that I had to keep that secret safe from everyone. Yeah, I could bs with the guys, but I had to be very careful on who I made friends with. I often wonder, even though I admitted to myself I was gay, did the hiding take a mental and maybe even a physical toll on me. Not sure @PrivateTim, over the years I've heard you talk about your water polo days. To be honest, I knew a guy in hs who played and i was always attracted to him but he had to be one of the best all around in shape and athletic guys I knew. How many players does a water polo team carry? I would hazard a guess that a team of 7 or 8 might be more cohesive than a team of say 17-22 teenagers and young men? Was there ever any players that maybe were not Type A personalities and more Type B, if you believe that logic?
  19. Hello GA'ers Or would that be GA'yers I like GA'ers better So thank the unusual weather here in my neck of the woods. I got woken up by a thunderstorm and have kind of been watching the lighting storm lighting up the bedroom. Whilst doing so, I said to myself, 'Self, did you do the Wrap Up last night before bed?' I knew I had not, so here I am at 3:15 AM wrapping things up I was out to a smaller town called Golden, BC the past few days. Took two my my nephews to the highest suspension bridge in North America and actually made it across. Then ziplined back across the canyon and took the lower suspension bridge to do the mountain coaster. You regulate your speed, I left the brakes off and loved it!! I thought of @TalonRider as I was going down . The boys enjoyed the adventure park which was them way up in the trees doing different obstacles on 4 different courses that I could never attempt . We skipped the axe throwing as we were all too tired at that time. Now if you had a park like that, don't you think you'd be filling your machines with the $5 bottles of water and other beverages other than pop on a ridiculously hot day? Nope, everything sold out but pop . Water, Gatorade, Iced Tea and pop was all the same price. Next day we went white water rafting down the Kicking Horse river! It was a great trip and everyone had a blast!!! There was like 11 rafts in our group and it was nuts going down the river doing class 2, 3 and 4 rapids. It is 5 km (3 miles) where you drop a total of 137 meters (450 feet) in about 1.5 hours. Luckily nobody fell out of their boats or flipped their rafts, but everyone definitely got wet . Now if you ever been to B.C. (British Columbia) it does have its unofficial nickname, Bring Cash I had to save all the pop bottles from the kids to help pay for some of this trip . But the boys had a blast and I guess they have told just about everyone they know. Took the 16 and 13 y/o nephews. The 18 y/o decided to go to Indianapolis for World Drum and Brass championships I guess. So I will have to make it up to him when he gets back. At least I know when I take him out to a fancier restaurant, he will probably eat all that he ordered, unlike his younger brothers . How about you all? Any exciting vacation days taken? This was unplanned but I knew I couldn't go camping this year. Did you get away 1 day to do something wild and crazy? if not, just do it Side note: Do you think I should have told a certain author beforehand that I was going to do what some may consider life threatening activities, so she knows that I might not finish looking over her chapters before she posts? I didn't see it as a problem Well let's get onto the wrap up before I see the sun Monday, Cia had a great interview to finish up the past months CSR Feature's author. Give it a read, it was really great!! Myr went all spooky on us when he did the Deep Dive into the Horror Genre: We kind of had a malfunction at the junction for the rest of the week Cia wrote a blog, just never got formatted as a blog I only have one thing to do per week on the GA schedule here, I would hate to think all the mistakes I would personally make if I had to do what she does daily and weekly 😮. The blog did get up on Friday though. If you read any of the Secret Author stories, make sure you check this one out: Now here is the Words of the Day as provided by Myr: proliferate, vellichor, yaffle, zenith, apathetic, cosmology, cryptid And since I'm so late... here is today's word too : heliotropism Upcoming Writing Events 2025 Yearly Anthology - Creature Feature - Due Oct 1, 2025 - All the information you need is here. 2025 Prompt Team Event - More information to come! 20. I love these discussions!! I think we all have or try to guess what kind of person an author is by their writing. What kind of life have they had, what kind of influences maybe steered their writing. You know, the personal stuff. Not too often we get some of the personal details that Cia seems to get for us. Sometimes understandably, there is a concern with anonymity but these questions allow an author decide what they want to share to get a bit closer to their readers. I've read most of Topher's works and kind of had an opinion of him, but other than him being Canadian and British, this was all I got right The fact that you were open about yourself Christopher, is really appreciated. Makes us feel a bit closer to you and your stories. Bravo!

  23. This has to be my favourite ballad. AI says this about the song: "Mama, I'm Coming Home" by Ozzy Osbourne is a song about returning to his wife, Sharon, after a period of chaos and addiction. The lyrics express a desire to come home to her, finding solace and redemption after being lost in a difficult time. It's a heartfelt message dedicated to Sharon for her unwavering support during his struggles. The song is also interpreted as a farewell letter to life itself, as Ozzy reflects on his past and finds peace I hope he has found that peace not only with Sharon, but everyone

    Chapter 5

As you get to know Krista, you will know that she calls everyone a heathen. None of it doing with the religious definition. I'm happy and celebrate a day she calls me a heathen rather than some other words in her vocabulary @Philippe, I asked her the same question *whistles* ???? Here is how things work around here, Last night she says, you got work to do. I say what chapter? She says that is my job, she has written the story and she is done with it ! Yes, and talking to me, she sometimes refers to chapters in the 5A, 5B language or as 4, and I have to figure her out So, here is the scoop. Back last year, when she said she wanted to carry this on, I suggested that she write the whole thing and then post 1 chapter per week, pick a day, and make it work, which she liked the idea of. Then she wanted to start posting early when the story wasn't done. Now she wants to post daily if I'd let her Just don't forget she asked me to hold her to the 'rules' For all of you that gave the shocked expression, you need to learn more about Krista I'd say this would be a good day for her
