GA's Newest Signature Author: Mark Ponyboy Peters
wildone commented on Graeme's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Congratulations!! I'm glad that you found GA and being part of what makes this site, what it is. Great authors and great community! Take a bow -
Glad to hear , Thomas. There is a great tool under the Help Tab on the solid red bar at the top of the page, under Post A Story on Gay Authors and the 3 topics. That should help you navigate everything for posting at GA.

June is here, and that means we get our monthly fix from our Review Team. Check out this gem brought to us by Parker: The Jerk-Off by JLynch Reviewer: Parker Owens Status: Complete Word Count: 98,033 It’s summer. You need a good beach read – you know, the kind of story that engages your attention so much that you wind up frying in the hot sun, and which entertains enough that you ignore the subsequent pain. GA author JLynch serves up just such a story in The Jerk-Off. Set in the summer lake country of Minnesota, JLynch plunges us into the world of young Thayer Dunn, working his first job at a local establishment serving boaters and summer residents on Bay Lake. Thayer has just begun to grow through his adolescence, but he hasn’t gone unnoticed. JLynch uses this to establish connections for us. We get the perfect amount of detail to put the reader into a colorful, sunlit scene, and enough local gossip to plug us into the social web of the community. Before long, readers are introduced to a wide cast of vividly drawn characters, all of whom appear to have an interest in this unassuming, backwater lake town. In the narrative that follows, JLynch weaves a brightly colored tapestry, letting each character tell us of the dreams and interests that motivates them, often in stark conflict with another. Issues of inheritance, money and power are all concentrated around the shining waters of Bay Lake, shimmering in the summer heat. When murder and violence erupt, Thayer Dunn is there on the periphery, observing events even as they intrude on his own adolescent world. What develops is an amusing swirl of adult mystery, adolescent discovery, and plenty of local color. Often in summer romance novels, there appear to be formulaic steps that readers can tick off as they occur, one by one: an innocent aw-shucks moment, a first kiss, or a trip to the emergency room. Some of these ingredients are here, but everything is tinged with intrigue and charged with clandestine power plays. Thayer’s community seethes, but he’s on a different quest. What makes this story both believable and delightful is the way JLynch shows us that Thayer can be partly aware of matters going seriously awry in his hometown, while simultaneously living in the self-absorption of adolescence. Yet at the same time, the author lets us in on the lives of the adults in Thayer’s world, who seem pretty much as self-centered as he is. As for those adults, their complex and convoluted worlds belie the sparkling simplicity of the lakeside setting. Vacation towns full of summer visitors enjoying themselves can still mask webs of intricate relationships. Each chapter further lets the reader into those webs and entertains us while unspooling the mystery of murder and motivation. And yes, like any summer beach read, there’s a healthy dose of sex written in, too. So make sure your beach has access to internet signal, so you can binge read this engaging story by a capable GA author. Remember the sunblock, because once you get started, you’ll forget that your tan has turned cherry red. I was doing up our Weekly Update this week and noticed I had a long hard slog ahead of me to recap all the blogs Then I got thinking about my preamble and thinking I should do an equal long and labourious one. There goes another month in the books! Can you believe you all have less than 7 months to get my Christmas Present mailed to me ? Unfortunately there might be another Canada Post strike here, so the sooner you get it in the mail, the better chance it will arrive here. This year ! I also can't believe it is still bright out at 9:40 PM my time. Dusk is like at 10:30 PM What all did you get up to this past month, the sort of, kind of, transition month, from spring to summer? I managed to get out camping not once but twice this past month. The camping gods must have been smiling down on me as it was perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold, dry, no mosquitos yet, and good times. Now here is a shocker for you. The friend I went camping with last weekend has been sober for 5 months, so I never took a drop with me . So reserve your judgement for another day . What about upcoming plans? I guess I shouldn't be so north focused, what about my Australian and New Zealander folks as well as others down under? Any plans for this winter? Going surfing with the sharks ? Funny how I can lump everyone in the southern hemisphere to what I picture as South African activities Shame on me. Oh, I was told not to say anything, but I will say it anyways We had an Signature Author that contributed last week, but his poem never made it into the Weekly Wrap Up. So know that the first Signature 'chapter' listing below was his. If you know of anyone else, or yours, that might have been missed last week with the technical glitch, let me know and I will work you into a future Wrap Up. We have to give credit where credit is due . Now onto the Wrap Up... Monday, what happened Monday? Oh, Cia was by with the CSR Discussion Day! It was another one that was nailed out of the park ⚾! Tuesday, Myr traded in his hockey skates and stick and didn't watch the final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs semi finals, to do another Deep Dive: Go figure, from hockey fights to Romance --> 💖 Thursday, Valkyrie came by to get us all excited, then threw a touchdown 🏈 and gave us a feature of upcoming Anthology and writing contests: Friday, everyone's favourite wolf came in with an overtime free kick to tell us about this week's Prompts ⚽: Think of the Words of the Day like 7 pin bowling Did you get a full strike, a spare or something less? Thanks, Thirdly. I have to hand most the credit to @Renee Stevens Actually, no, I did the story. She gave me lots of advice on staging and the character and such, but I will have to take 100% of the credit for the... shall we say a quick change of events . I'm glad that even after this time, it can still can attract the occasional comment. Very much appreciated comment

I was thinking how it is funny how things have changed over the years here at GA. A certain author I know found a movie called Riley and she may have a story called Ridley and she was wondering if maybe someone took her story and made a screenplay out of it, and made the movie for profit . So being the dedicated friend that I am, I rented the movie to see the similarities. Just an FYI, this is my opinion only, not to be taken as fact. Three similarities: Both the movie and her story both have the letters r, i, l, e, y in both of them The main characters in both play a sport If the original end of the story had left off where originally planned, it would have been like the movie, the wrong place to end both She didn't seem appreciative of my thoroughly deep investigation I wonder why Now how does the two come together? Back in the day, a lot of the stories here at GA when we had more active forums for story discussion when we didn't have comments and reviews, there was always a huge debate on who would play who if a movie was made. I'm not sure if that happens so much anymore. It still does, but not as much Then we had a lot of great artists in the visual arts way, that could conjure up a picture of what they saw the character looking like. Some were amazing, but still were open to debate. The thing was 99% of us couldn't draw as good of a picture to get a counter point across Now, we get AI to help us create the character in the image the author sees there characters. It is almost taking away the art of describing the characters in a way that wasn't: 'I stood in front of the mirror and looked at my 6' body with my angular jaw and moustache and black curly hair dropping down to my broad shoulders on my swimmer's built chest with huge pecs, hairless normally, narrowing down to my perfect waist, etc.' That is how I do character descriptions. I do love an author that can weave a picture in your mind with words and suggestions, not all in one paragraph . So, do you like AI pictures from either an author's or a reader's view? I have to admit, I like a lot of them. I guess though I miss the debate of if Keanu Reeves could play Seth from Desert Droppings ? Now if you answer no, please be respectful in your answer as not to make all people who do AI art want to give it up ! My one criticism would be that I can still tell the difference between AI art I see (on here) and what an actual picture looks like. But I appreciate the effort to get better and better. Needless to say, I'm in a debate know with the unknown author on who gets to play characters in some of their stories. We do not find the same looks attractive as the other does Now after that ramble, let's move on to the GA News of the week. It was a busy week! Monday, Cia came in with a new Classic Author Feature. I went into it and downloaded the nifty picture and put it in my signature: Tuesday, Myr waxed and waned poetic . Did I use wax and wane correctly? Wednesday, being Classic Author week, we got the Excerpt to go with Monday's announcement. Check it out: Aaron dropped by to put us out of suspense to reveal the Author Guess Who? Author: Friday, it was time for our Prompt Team to let us know the results of the their latest rendition of This is the End: The Words of the Day were tricker this week. I have a weekend off from anything so I'm actually here Thanks again to Cia to helping out the past couple of weeks. You know what? I'm at a loss for words this week. No, I'm not drunk and/or incapacitated. We are in our annual Victoria Day weekend in Canada, so they means we get rain and snow. No snow this year though. I decided to start on a plumbing project in my shower, and I bought some new apparatuses and thought today would be a good day to get them installed. When I bought them at the Homo Depot™ they told me I would just need a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. They lie !!!! I had to get a plumbers wrench and then came back home and read the instructions and I need plumbers tape . Most things throw the tape in there, don't they ? Now if you are a plumber by trade and laughing your ass off at me, go for it ! Youtube did not get me out of this mess and unfortunately when you ask at the store, they seem to sell you something else. Needless to say, I have the pipe coming out of the wall right now and nothing more. So baths it is until I get it installed. Or maybe I will have a shower blaster for a day or two So here comes my question for the week. Are you a DYI'er, or are you more of a call a professional to do something? It seems like the mechanical as in autos I can do on my own with some help with a OBD meter and Youtube. I won't touch anything electrical or gas related, not a chance in hell. Well, I did put in a ceiling fan/light in my bedroom, but I'm still waiting for it to break off and snap the safety wire and kill me in my sleep . Happy thoughts. On that positive note let's move onto see what happened at the GA Blogs this week. Monday was a chance for the Review Team to attract us all to another great story: Tuesday was time for Myr to tiptoe in and try to scare the crap out of us : Thursday... well I have to keep a secret : Finally on Friday, Aditus, going for 2 of the 4 blogs of the week, gave us some new Prompts: Now what would a week without Myr trying to expand our vocabulary and to use in our literary pursuits. Question, do you ever try to speak the word of the day in everyday conversation that day? I have to admit when the periodic table of elements were being done, people were looking at me funny . objurgate, turophile, ambrosial, incipience, hallucinate, spartan, sappy Upcoming Writing Events Secret Author Contest 2025 - 2025 Yearly Anthology - Creature Feature - Due Oct 1, 2025 - All the information you need is here. 2025 Prompt Team Event - More information to come! wildone commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
One of the only times I can remember hallucinating was when I was in the hospital after my accident and the were weaning me off the morphine drip and started me on oral percocet. That is until I looked up at the TV set that was off, hanging from the ceiling and I saw Garfield coming out of it, bearing his teeth, claws to the ready, coming to attack me like as if I was a lasagna. I'm sure the nurses must have a log of most hilarious stories from drugged up patients Oh, they stop giving me percocet. -
I was going to suggest your alternate personality write another one Then thought you'd have to set up another account Just stick with the one Hmmmm, that gives me an idea

Here is a great story by a great author done by another great author Enjoy! The Life of Seeon by comicfan Reviewer: Aditus Status: Complete Word Count: 32,006 If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans (Woody Allen). That came to mind when I first read The Life of Seeon. Seeon is the fifth and youngest child of the High King of Toleran Maon. Even though he is a prince, he’ll never wear the crown. He’s given the choice to become either a eunuch or a priest. His first plan is to become a priest. When he‘s fifteen, disaster strikes in multiple ways, and the plan changes. Toleran is about to lose the war against the Horeun empire, and Seeon’s father reintroduces a centuries-old custom to gain allies. Seeon is to become Ma’ Nee, which means he’ll lose all societal standings as a male. To end the war, the king decides that Seeon has to marry Horeun’s youngest prince, Mika, and be his second wife. After Seeon arrives in Horeun, he learns how different the two countries are. The plan changes again, and this time, a God smiles. The story can make its reader sad, disgusted, hopeful, happy, and everything in between. Unfortunately, there won’t be a second part, even when you desperately want to know more about this exciting world, its people, and gods, as comicfan (Wayne) passed much too early in the summer of 2021. You have to weave the story further in your head. Hellooooo! How is everybody ? First off, can you shout out your love to Cia this week? You probably didn't notice, but she used her magic powers and went in and put in the stories of the week in last week's blog and published it I'm hoping she will be able to help me out this week too! This weekend, I got convinced last weekend, when I probably could claim I was not of a clear mind and not to be held responsible for anything I committed too , to do something questionable. It turns out a bunch of friends every year go out on a guys camping trip to the Rocky Mountains. They are doing it on Mother's Day weekend so I haven't quite figured that out. Are they giving their wives and mothers a few days away from them? Where we have gone camping is not covered by cell phone coverage. We are due back today, early Sunday, so maybe they will make it up this afternoon or evening. I'll let you know the reasons behind this weekend though. So, in case you forgot, and I'm going to be careful as some don't feel this way. Oh, did you know that incase isn't a word Wait, I got distracted . Here is what I wanted to say : My mommy is gone, but i still call my sisters on Mother's Day. So if there is someone that is a mother that you like, drop them a call, visit them, or just say something like, "Hey, Great Job Mom!" So curious what everyone is doing this weekend? Any big plans? Are any plans a secret ? I guess you can't post here, because it wouldn't be a secret anymore. I seem to have a bit of trouble with secrets as I'm always wondering how I can find out who wrote a secret author contest entry to narrow it down . We had a good week behind us, I think IMHO. Monday, Cia gave us an all new CSR Feature: Tuesday, Myr was seen walking along the shores of Lake Ontario pinning for the days when he can run into the lake to do a true deep dive. No fiction to be added to this story: Thursday, there was a lot of chatter around the latest Author Guess Who? I think 3 names have put been put forward with a lot of assurance, but I'm not sure. How about you? Do you know who this mystery person is? Aaron won't tell me, because it falls in the category of guess what, a secret : Friday, we had a return to our normal broadcasting schedule with a new Prompt Event. Valkyrie and Aditus are trying the End game again I have to say this time I read it and I understood it right away ! If I can understand it, any rock on the ground can too : Now for a summary of all the Words of the Day: umber, articulate, mesmerize, orifice, demure, numismatics, scoff Upcoming Writing Events Secret Author Contest 2025 - Just found out we can't reveal anything more because it is a secret . 2025 Yearly Anthology - Creature Feature - Due Oct 1, 2025 - All the information you need is here. 2025 Prompt Team Event - More information to come! mesmerize - Word of the Day - Tue May 6, 2025
wildone commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
Popeye never mesmerized me unlike Olive Oyl I guess he just wasn't my kind of guy, although I do like spinach -
Let's throw things in the mixer and mix things up this week . Well not mix, but let's look at a mirror image of the past week. Now for the big news this week, that many have been waiting for. In fact there would not be any GA if it wasn't for the guy that we are holding our annual Anthology for this week. A huge thank you to all the authors that contributed this year. Without you, his memory might fade away . Make sure you stop by, read and leave a comment or two! He will be missed, but if you ever read anything by Comicality, then you need to look at the bonus feature at the bottom of the Anthology. Enjoy ! Wednesday, Val kept us up to date on the upcoming events here at GA for writing. Still over 1/2 the year to go and still 3 events to go, at least! Check them all out here: Jump on back to Tuesday, and there was a lot of mystery going on with Myr's Deep Dive : Monday, Cia brought us a great CSR Discussion Day with a great author! I learned a lot about him in his interview: Since we did the blogs backwards, why not for S&G look at the Words of the Day in reverse order too! intelligible, encumbered, askew, cognizant, nomenclature, behest. Did anyone else notice we didn't have a WOTD on Tuesday I know the big guy is having a lot of stuff going on, so hoping everyone gives him a hug and a pass. Maybe not make a pass at him . Well, who knows. Maybe he will like that Go ahead, make a pass at him Hey Myr, you're looking sexy today . Now usually I start with a preamble, so this is my first official postamble I am hoping that I can convince Cia or Myr to insert the stories below because I can tell you for a fact, I probably have been poured out of a Uber and may or may not have made it home after the International Beerfest being held on Saturday. Being in the top five Beerfests in the world, with an even larger line up this year, in a much expanded event centre, with over 200 vendors, I have set a goal to try every single one of them ! If I succeeded, it was nice knowing you all . My only wish is that I could get @Daddydavek up here and I'm sure the two of us could make a good dent in the place! Brad will be there as well, btw. May 2 brought us great weather, with today around 26C or 78.8F ( @Bill W, I double checked my numbers ) and Saturday around 30C/86F, it is a good thing I will be in air conditioned comfort, except for the fifteen block stumble to the bar we go to after for food and ... more beer . Just happened that my yearly physical was on Thursday and my doctor asked how much I drink and I told him very little in a month, in honesty, under four beers a month. I did however inform him of my upcoming drunkenness and his reply was that I'm allowed that once a year, and he might see me down there I hope nobody here is offended about me talking about tomorrow like a drunken fool . I don't promote this to anyone but me . So how about you, do you partake in causal festivals surrounded around food or alcohol? I do have to mention since cannabis has been legal in Canada for like what, ten years now, that they have their own festivals too! I think I want to make it to Bavaria in Germany around October. Not sure why, just hear they have a pretty big party over there . I know there is wine festivals, spirit festivals, bbq festivals, pie festivals, exotic cuisine festivals, ethnic festivals, and so on. Do you go to any yourself? Tell me about them. Okay, let's rap ( or wrap ) things up. Anyone want to give me a beat? I'm so white and old Upcoming Writing Events Secret Author Contest 2025 - Just found out we can't reveal anything more because it is a secret . 2025 Yearly Anthology - Creature Feature - Due Oct 1, 2025 - All the information you need is here. 2025 Prompt Team Event - More information to come! Hi Everyone! It was just alerted to me that there is something wrong and everyone but staff can't see the entries, just an error message. I have done the most that I can do, so until Myr comes online, we may have to wait. I tried unpublishing @Bill W's story and then republishing it to no avail. Bill is innocent on this if you get a notification Sorry everyone. -
Was that your own story? 😜 If one didn’t get that one correct, then it is time to pull out the nice shiny brochures to find appropriate living accommodations. Don’t worry, Krista has been collecting them for a few years now, for me I can’t remember if you had a story or not last year 🙃
