Wow! I just saw a bunch of pics and videos on FB of the damage the winds have caused in this area so far. Lots of downed trees and power lines... evacuations along the lake due to the ice surge... and several roofs torn off buildings. Someone posted a video of a traffic light falling down, narrowly missing a car. Some towns have posted travel advisories due to the high winds and traffic lights that are out. Oh and a tractor trailer blew over on the thruway. And we're not done yet. It's starting to snow, so add that to 70 mph winds. Not good.

I never mentioned the size of the vehicle. This happened to be a truck, but people with BMWs or Mercedes or Jags do the same thing. And this person was NOT in the back of the lot and didn't need to take up two spaces. I've parked trucks with horse trailers in the back of grocery store parking lots too. That's a completely different scenario from what I described. Legitimately taking up two spaces because the vehicle doesn't fit into one is completely understandable.

Me too. And I'm pretty sure the person sitting in the overcompensation-mobile saw what I called her, since I was looking right at them when I said it. #sorrynotsorry

And if you are going to take up two spots, at least do it in the back of the parking lot, not the front where spots are at a premium. But it still makes you a douche and also makes it more likely for someone to target your precious dick-mobile.

B is our resident Tea Bat You'd think in today's society women would be on a more level playing field. We're getting there, but there's still plenty of misogyny out there. When I worked retail about 17 years ago, I actually had someone ask to speak to a man because they refused to deal with women. This was on the phone... so I got one of our Spanish speaking workers and explained what happened and he happily talked to him. In Spanish.

I got up early and went grocery shopping ahead of the storm. I planned it perfectly, since shortly after I got home and put the car and garbage totes in the garage, the skies darkened and we had a nasty thunderstorm. It was sunny when I left the grocery store. It's calmed down a little bit now. The real nasty winds, gusts over 75 mph, are due around noon--so about three hours from now. So if I'm not around all day, it's because I lost power. And now for some ranting... taking up two parking spots right next to the cart return makes you a douche. Not looking when crossing aisles and giving the person who has the right of way a dirty look also makes you a douche.

I wondered if someone was going to ask that. 😛 I need to scrub the tub and the toilet. I'm keeping both of those. I'm having a tub surround going in over the existing tub. Everything else is being gutted and replaced.

Whew... well I'm exhausted and sore, but the house is clean and mostly ready for the bathroom reno to start on Monday I'll scrub the bathroom tomorrow, and cover what I can with sheets to minimize dust. I'll also get the cats set up in the spare room. It's supposed to get horribly windy here tomorrow with gusts up to 75 mph! Then blowing snow and ice as the temps drop. Ugh. I'm so ready for spring!
